I find it ironic that any mention of his name was taboo on the RF and the offending posts would be scrubbed and the poster would be warned, at the behest of Catholics on the RF to have him banned because of hate, and yet here we have a CATHOLIC posting a thread about him.
I guess using his material is bad but trumpeting his passing is not.
Ironic is the wrong word.
Hypocritical is more like it.
But the point wasn’t so much the claim to duplicate posting but top the fact that Chick was not allowed on the RF, as insisted on by the Catholics.
The recent ones on Islam were outstanding.
I'll have to look for those. It's surprising the man made it to 92 years old dissing islam.
True. I guess the addition of the moderator in the two collumn upped the ante.
It is the difference between showing up at your neighbor’s door saying the music is too loud and doing it with a cop standing next to you. ;-)
My neighbor is a cop. :-)
I find that I don’t agree with him on most stuff, I don’t believe in censorship of that sort. I kinda get upset when I try to start a thead from an article from a worthwhile source and I get shut down by an automated process saying we don’t allow material from that source.
I prefer that they only moderate language and attitude, and allow the rest of it (content of ideas) to stand or fall on its own merit.
But it’s not my site...
Yeah. I didn’t know about the history.
Good one!
Name one libelous tract, and I'll take a look at it. Whet you refer to as libel may not really be that. If it were, of course, Mr. Chick would have been sued on it, and adjudged a sociopath.
I suspect he was paid to dis everybody, from Muslims to Masons.
No one was ever Saved by a Jack Chic tract but he did make people think about it. In the end, that’s all that mattered. If you left the Catholic Church/Masons/Islam/LDS over a Jack Chic cartoon, you weren’t meant to be there.
"Libelous" is being kind to it.
And you're darn right I'm sitting as a judge on that particular tract. As to Mr. Chick himself, and his culpability ... God is his judge.
End of discussion.
Jack Chick as all Christians entered into judgment decades ago when he became a Christian, and was found to be just...Jesus traded his righteousness for Chick's unrighteousness...His only judgement now was to expose his human works to Jesus and have his bad works burned up, expunged from his record so he could be presented to the face of God as holy and sinless...
Meanwhile, the spiritual realists will be -— of their kindness, in the mercy of Christ —— praying him out of purgatory...
“And then I realized there was virtually nothing we agreed on.”
You disagree we are sinners save by grace thanks to Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross and His resurrection?
Please be thrifty. Save your labels.
Thank you.
No. I agree with him on that, but that is about it.
It’s the one thing I agree with all Christian churches on. It’s the other stuff that can be a challenge. It’s why we have Catholics and protestants, and about a hundred different Baptist congregations.
Most of the people around where I live, including everyone in my church, disagree with me on the fate of the lost.
Jack Chick’ s only peer may be Charles Schulz. But Chick did it all on his own and his purpose was more than just entertainment.
Chick reached more people than Billy Graham and his tracts all had the plan of salvation and how to pray for salvation.
They were simple and compelling.
The criticisms of Chick’s stuff is all at a pretty low level
