A New Jersey priest has been suspended from public ministry because of his persistent homosexual advocacy.
Father Warren Hall revealed on Twitter that he had been suspended by Archbishop John Myers of Newark, because his public statements and actions are confusing the faithful. Last year Father Hall had been removed from his post as chaplain at Seton Hall University because of his outspoken support for homosexual causes.
Father Hall indicated that he thought his suspension showed that Archbishop Myers was out of step with Catholic thinking. He wrote on Twitter that @Pontifexs Reform are taking too long.
I bet he could buy his way out of dutch with some carbon credits..../s
...and meanwhile, self-appointed "evangelical leaders" will continue to trash the Catholic Church by claiming its "totally owned by the Democrat Party" and "won't stand up to the gay agenda", while ignoring the fact that many of their fellow protestant churches and the vast majority of Jewish congregations are far, far LEFT of those "socialist" Catholics they LOVE bashing.
About Time, There should be Much More of this!
Good Archbishop John Myers of Newark
Your differences are not with your bishop but with God.
NO reforms are possible because you can not reform the revealed truth of God.
He also seems to misinformed about his vocation. He is quoted in news articles saying that he has been fired.
Since my firing from Seton Hall and coming out last year I felt an obligation to use this as an opportunity to more directly let people know of Gods love for all of us and that gay Catholics should stay in the church and work for more wider acceptance. I do not feel I ever preached or taught anything contrary to the Gospel (and) this is true from my entire 27 years of ordination [as a priest].
He has not been fired nor can he be fired. He has been removed from an assignment. He has sworn an oaths of obedience to God, Gods word and the Church among others. He has been anointed a priest of Gods Church. He can not be fired because he does not have a job.
He is being disciplined to show him the error of his ways. He is persistent in teaching a false doctrine.
He must be removed from a position where the faithful maybe influenced by this false doctrine until he repents and accepts the truth of the Church.
Any Priest who openly speaks against Gods Word should be defrocked not just suspended.
BB,
Chicago Archdiocese, Mundelein Seminary and Niles (Prep) Seminary have been some of the most pro-gay Catholics. The priests of Catholic churches I attended shared housing in gay-town where they went to “unwind”.
Now I’m in Atlanta with Bishop Gregory from Glenview and Chicago Archdiocese. He has brought the Chicago way to Atlanta. The Catholic church closest to me is even more pro-gay then anything that offended me in Chicagoland.
I have to travel 30+ miles to find a Catholic Church that is Conservative. In contrast, the many Baptist and other pentecostal and evangelical churches around me in Atlanta are very anti-gay.
Of course, the United Methodist, Presbyterian and UCC churches are very pro-gay. But their attendance is so small they only count when using their past of 100 years ago.
Priests are not hired by parishes, but they are hired by institutions like hospitals, universities, etc. A parish cannot fire a priest, but a hospital or university certainly can.
I’m a little unclear: “defrocked” is not a term used in Catholic canon law. Could you explain what you mean by it?
You are on Spot... To bad more Priests, Bishops and the Pope were on Spot...
God Bless
Whatever “defrocked” is supposed to mean (In Catholic terms, it means nothing, because priests don’t wear frocks.), this priest has shown that he has absolutely no inkling of a shadow of a wisp of a murmur of a clue what Catholicism is, and should therefore be laicized.
In the good old days, after diligent, ummmm, inquiry, we would have burned this heretic Hall at the stake. Alas, modernity is too fussy to allow the imposition of justice.
The more a priest praises the fruits of Vatican II, the more likely that he is one.
