The actual New Testament says to give as purposed in one’s heart (besides it is lousy theology to call any system of Christian giving equivalent to the unique tithe system which would be something more like a Christmas club savings account used to throw an extravagant annual party).
Has Ted given to others by some different system? Maybe we’d never see it, depending on how literally he takes the dictum of Jesus to keep it private. It might not even show up on his taxes.
And I don’t even think he’s living up to his faith very well in public right now, but I’m not going to jump for accusations for which there is really no solid proof.
That is true but in this interview he could have cleared it all up but all he did was admit that it was true, that he didn't.
From Youtube: Sen. Ted Cruz Tithing
My solid proof was simple ...
I noticed that when campaigning in Iowa, and in the debate before Iowa, he gave a public testimony of his conversion and his stump speeches included references to the body of Christ coming together to vote for him.
I said to myself "Cool, a believer willing to come out publically with his faith and he seems to have mostly conservative positions" ...
Then New Hampshire came around ... and the rhetoric did not include any reference to Christ. I thought that strange indeed ... at that point I said to myself "let's see if he goes back to it in South Carolina" ...
Sure enough he did ... and that is when the red flag went up for me ...
I mentioned that to my pastor ... and he said his only hesitation in voting for Cruz was the lack of tithing ...
That was it for me ... he may indeed be a brother in Christ ... but upon casual inspection of the fruit ... I would say his political career takes front and center in his life, which gives me tremendous pause.
Trump? I have no illusions whether he is a Christian ... he is not.
