The Pope spoke at a prayer service concluding the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
After walking across the threshold of the Holy Door of the Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls with an Orthodox metropolitan and an Anglican archbishop, Pope Francis invoked God's mercy upon divided Christians and apologised for times that Catholics may have hurt members of other denominations.
"As bishop of Rome and pastor of the Catholic Church, I want to beg for mercy and forgiveness for un-Gospel-like behaviour on the part of Catholics against Christians of other churches," the Pope said on Monday at a prayer service concluding the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
"We ask most of all for forgiveness for the sin of our divisions, which are an open wound on the body of Christ," Pope Francis said.
"At the same time, I ask all my Catholic brothers and sisters to forgive if, today or in the past, they were hurt by other Christians," he said. "We cannot erase what happened, but we do not want to allow the burden of past faults to continue to poison our relationships."
As is customary, Pope Francis led the service at Rome's Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, which tradition holds as the burial site of the apostle. Orthodox Metropolitan Gennadios, representing the ecumenical patriarch, and Anglican Archbishop David Moxon, representing the archbishop of Canterbury, joined the pope in prayer at St Paul's tomb at the beginning of the service.

Only God can forgive the sins of the Roman Catholic Church.
However, it is a humble action and always right for anyone who claims the name of Christ.
“Acts 18:8 and the Didache. Infant baptism is biblical.”
No baby or child is baptized in Acts 18:8.
The Didache is not Scripture - and after it was taken from the Jews, it was altered over the centuries. It is an interesting piece of history.
Household typically means household and not adults only.

It does not say a single human was baptized who did not entrust themselves to Christ alone for salvation.
It does not say a single child was baptized.
It does not say a single baby was baptized.
It does not say any family pets were baptized.
Surely, if you are claiming infant baptism is Scriptural, you must have something - anything - other than an invisible baby to put forth as proof??

You can try and say that is was secular authorities that burned people at the stake, but the practice was approved and sanctioned by the Pope.
After Pope Leo X summarizes Martin Luther's errors, he concludes with this statement. No one of sound mind is ignorant how destructive, pernicious, scandalous, and seductive to pious and simple minds these various errors are,...
So that idea that it is wrong to burn people at the stake is harmful to pious and simple minds. Wow.

Infants were circumcised to include them in the covenants, as commanded by God. It was detailed down to the day they must be circumcised.

Long before 240 AD, error had crept into the church, as Paul and John warned. This is why you will fail to find any examples, commands, depictions in art, secular reporting, etc., before 100 AD. It was not passed from the Apostles.
I know this is a waste of time to anyone that isn't looking for what God wants, but a short search in Scripture makes the RCC naked for what it is in God's eyes. Worship of a denomination is just as sinful as worship of idols. It's the revelation of the Messiah by the Holy Spirit that was the foundation of the church, not a man called Peter. Peter was never more than just another Apostle. God makes us saints and priests according to Scripture, not a vote of men.
The church God set up was from about 33AD to around 400AD. Then Rome took over the church dictating what Christians were supposed to follow. That system was in effect till Martin Luther and even then many things in the break off church were modeled after the Babylonian church of idol worship. The true church, the church Jesus Christ set up, was more like the churches setup in the first 3-400 years. A start would be "A Woman Rides the Beast" on Youtube. There is plenty more after that, but keep in mind, the time is getting real short for your decision.

The current crisis in the Catholic Church has its origin in its refusal to defend the integrity of the Bible. The Church deserves everything it is going through in spades for this. But even the "conservative" Catholics here on FR absolutely refuse to see this and continue to attack "literalism" and defend evolution and higher criticism.

If you believe error means the Holy Spirit took a vacation, I can only commend the first 4 chapters of Revelation to you for further study. In it you will find an Apostle detailing his direct inspired message from the glorified Christ that error was in some Churches.
If you believe this error means Christ didnt' keep his promises to "be with you always, until the end of the age", I can only say the Scriptures disagree. He was with Israel, keeping His covenants, even during their darkest hours, when He said, "And what was God's answer to him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal."
Christ remained with His Assembly even during the dark hours throughout the ages, while most in His Church slipped into syncretic paganism. He was there to give it a rebirth during the Reformation years. He is there today, wherever believers are found.
The death penalty is not intrinsically evil. The church has always taught that. Even now it is not intrinsically evil. So your post is correct...the Catholic Church did not condemn the practice of burning heretics.

The one that calls G-d a liar? That says that the Torah is a collection of myths that formed over time and redacted constantly until it reached its final form? That says that J*sus could suspend the laws of nature but when G-d A-mighty created the universe from nothing He had to follow "natural laws" that didn't even exist? That says the church fathers were experts when commenting on "new testament" miracles but when they assumed Genesis was true they were merely "men of their time?"
How can any sane person not view such an organization with contempt regardless of how old it is or who founded it . . . especially when it falsely proclaims that its teachings are absolutely unchanged from the beginning?
