Wow! The church next door (where I attend), has a new Pastor and it’s growing by leaps and bounds.

If the Pastor is preaching the right stuff .. people will not leave .. and he will be able to bring people together.

Thus the popularity of the “pay it forward” philosophy. If that thinking was correlated to Christ’s death, the young would understand what it means to take up the cross and give their lives to Him.

And you don’t have to abandon your Catholic faith either. Like some here want you too.

People are leaving because they do not see biblical teaching, tired of watered down "life coach" message, music, etc. The SBC is declining b/c they focus on "racial reconciliation" instead of the Gospel. PCUSA, Episcopal, others have already left the faith.

As a society, we attacked the nuclear family and religious values over the past 50 years. The church has been silent on abortion, divorce, homosexuality. Negligent in teaching as well. 2/3 of believers state there are other religions lead to life everlasting.....fundamentally breaks the need for Jesus, sacrifice, forgiveness.

The church leaders are concerned because the next generation won't be there to fill their coffers.

It isn’t all liberal infiltration. It is more broadly among evangelicals the feminized, sissy, arminian pastors preaching the gospel of “nice”, together with the ignorant, unbiblical, paralyzing “Left Behind” eschatology. Almost all church attendance is a waste of time and insult to anyone with intelligence.

Good example of today's "evangelist/activist" type work. Post on facebook is about the extent of it. Any theology here? Are red cups going to covert any souls? We are missing the next generation of believers and our focus is on red coffee cups.

Why Some Christians Are Upset at Starbucks’ New Holiday Cups

Some Christians have taken to social media channels to protest the new Starbucks holiday cup, which they say is conspicuously devoid of images of both Christmas and Jesus Christ himself. The new cup, which is shades of red with the Starbucks logo, showed up in stores late last month.

"Starbucks REMOVED CHRISTMAS from their cups because they hate Jesus," wrote Joshua Feuerstein in a viral Facebook post with nearly 10 million views. In an accompanying video, Feuerstein encourages customers to give their name as "Merry Christmas" to force Starbucks employees to say the phrase. The movement had caught on by Sunday with the hashtag "MerryChristmasStarbucks" trending on Facebook.

Yea but isn’t that in and of itself liberal infiltration? The PASTORS AND PRIESTS are the primary problem. Whether Vatican OR SBC or whatever derived. It is they that allow it or preach it openly.

And the left put them in positions to do so when they took power in the overall ‘church’. It’s WHY they they seized power. It’s what they set out to do. It’s classic infiltrate/destroy doctrine.

Yeah, but millenials in general are narcissists who don’t like God at all.

I agree with your sentiments on televangelists, but the Godless millenials almost seem to be a lost cause altogether. Have you ever heard the way they speak to each other?

Divide and conquer.

The secularists, atheists, communists, and other assorted ilk have been infiltrating the church for some time, sowing the seeds of doubt, and driving a wedge between the faithful and their god.

Christianity is under assault everywhere in the world today, from without and from within.

The only way out is to band together, put our differences aside, and fight back.

The crusades came about for a reason, and not for the reasons your enemies have led you to believe.

I know some preachers who are afraid to speak the Truth for fear of alienating their remaining parishioners. This has resulted in a watered down, feel good version of Christianity.

I also think that seeing Christians having their heads chopped off has led those weak and fearful to leave their church.

My pastor died a few weeks ago from after a long battle with cancer and now I am once looking for a church with a pastor who speaks the Truth.

Who does he consider Christians? Many of the mainline denominations, such as the Episcopal Church, PCUSA, etc. are led by non-Christians who are agents of Satan. Those are the churches that are collapsing.

Churches are under attack.

Any time you gather people together in a setting like that, you will get cliques, politics, and all sorts of non-church related crap.

Every church that I’ve been associated with since my childhood has been a den of snarky women, butting their nose into everyone’s business...and men who act holy on Sunday...but we don’t miss an opportunity to sin any other day of the week.

Christianity is doing just fine. Whenever two or more are gathered...its all the other junk that messes stuff up.

It did not start with TV. Those folks just used to scalp smaller audiences...one tent at a time.

Its not the message...its the medium, for those folks.

Hi NOrm, You asked, "Why do you feel you have to have a middle man group to stand between or translate between yourself and God?"

HarleyLady can certainly answer this question directed specifically to her, but let me add my own 2 cents' worth as well.

If there is any "middle man" "standing between" myself and God, it is the Man Jesus Christ.

The Church was founded by Christ. It is the Body of Christ. It has lived on in Him in all the continents and and myriads of cultures, through all the vicissitudes of history for 20+ centuries, on her pilgrim way with Christ (since Christ said "I am the Way.") He could no more be separated from the Church than He could be separated from His Body, His beloved, His bride.

Yes I know that. But the church inserts itself these days. It isn;t simply a transparent conduit.

Serious question. Not to you in the personal sense but to people of faith overall.

When you have an organized group telling you that 2000 years of doctrine no longer apply and it’s no OK to be gay, that divorce is no biggie and all the things that have been done throughout traditional christian denominations in the last couple years alone, is it likely those changes are made by God or by a group of men with a political agenda.

And if they are being made by men and not God, then Biblically what are we called on to do?

I know of no instance of the Bible teaching us to follow the ways of man over the written word of God. So how can we do anything, and retain our faith, other than flatly those who bastardize Gods word?
