NYC Parade May Oust St. Patrick
Church Militant ^ | 10/26/15 | Joseph Pelletier

Posted on 10/26/2015 4:11:29 PM PDT by markomalley

The committee for New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade is considering removing Ireland's saint from his place of honor.

Saint Patrick's Day Parade, Inc., the corporation responsible for organizing the annual festivities, is holding a meeting Thursday to vote on potential revisions to the corporation's bylaws. Among the items on the agenda is the "removal of the section which states 'The Parade will be held in honor of St Patrick, the Patron Saint of the Archdiocese of New York and the Patron Saint of Ireland.'"

Further proposed revisions include:

The parade, first organized in 1762 by Irish soldiers serving in the British army, was created to commemorate the March feast day of Saint Patrick, whose fourth-century missionary work led to centuries of devout Roman Catholicism within Ireland.

Since 1992 the annual march in New York City has been operated by St. Patrick's Day Parade, Inc., whose mission statement is "to conduct in cooperation with the broader Irish American community a parade in honor of St. Patrick, the principles of the Roman Catholic Church and the culture and tradition of the Irish and Irish American people."

Dr. John Lahey, current president of Quinnipiac University, was promoted to vice chairman of St. Patrick's Day Parade, Inc. this summer following the ousting of long-time chairman John Dunleavy, who had fought hard against homosexual groups that sought to march in the parade.

Lahey himself was reportedly highly influential in permitting gay NBC contingent OUT@NBCUniversal to march in this year's parade, making them the first specifically LGBT group to take part in the parade.

He was also instrumental in last month's board decision approving a second "gay rights" group, the Lavender and Green Alliance, to take part in next year's parade. It will mark the first time in the parade's 253-year history that an independent homosexual group unnaffiliated with NBC has been allowed to march in the parade under its own banner.

According to the petition, under the watch of Dr. Lahey, the parade's board of directors has already begun marginalizing the allied organizations that for years have supported the parade through annual dues and fundraising; many of these organizations have been closely involved with the event for decades and some for more than a century. Per the current bylaws, said organizations receive a democratic voice within the planning of the parade but the developed revisions, citing the "need for inclusion" and the creation of special "executive committees," would consolidate their voting abilities to a "new executive committee" that would be "answerable only to Dr. Lahey and the Board."

This small body currently consists of Dr. Lahey appointments, many of whom are affiliated with Quinnipiac University and do not meet the requirements of the current bylaws, either due to a lack of traceable Irish heritage or identification as a practicing Roman Catholic.

A petition has been created by "Concerned Members of the Affiliated Organizations of the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade" and is requesting that "the proposed executive board meeting and all changes to the bylaws of the parade be suspended and that a meeting between the Board, Committee, and Affiliated Organizations be convened as soon as possible."

A Saint Patrick's Day parade without Saint Patrick? I am reminded of this:

What did they do before 1992? I mean how on Earth did we survive before 1992. That is what they should use.

Looks like the St. Patrick’s day parade is about to turn into just another “pride” parade.

So, once it's no longer a St. Patrick's Day parade, what will be the rationale for holding it?

"Here's another excuse for flaunting our homosexuality and showing what poor winners we are?"

How many parades do they need to do that? One for every day of the year?

St. Patrick was an Orthodox Christian (a pre-schism saint). Many people do not realize that, or do not wish to acknowledge it!!!!

http://oca.org/saints/lives/2015/03/17/100821-st-patrick-the-bishop-of-armagh-and-enlightener-of-ireland

In any event, when a St. Patrick’s Day parade (In NYC, Boston, etc.) is FORCED to include “gay pride” groups, it ceases to be a St. Patrick’s Day parade, and becomes a “gay pride” parade!!!!

We have too many “pride” parades already! If any city MUST have a “pride” parade, it should be on Halloween, and NOT in June, or on March 17th, July 4th, etc. And the number of days designated to recognize the “gay community” should be reduced to one (at most)—Halloween!!!!

Pfui!!!!

Seems like the point kinda got hijacked. This is anti White, anti Irish, & by extension, but most of all- anti cop. Basically, ethnic cleansing. They’re just putting the excuse on St Patrick because the parade is in honor of his day. jmho

(lol Something tells me this is a fight they’ll be sorry they started. Real sorry.)

It will now be called the peter fitzpatrick / patrick fitzpeter parade, in honor of all the sodomites and militant homosexualists marching in it.

St Patrick, you will be sorely missed!

To paraphrase Don McLean, “He took the last train for the coast, the day the (parade) died.”

You know that they will remove the name of St. Patrick from the parade. They will probably call it Irish Day Parade or maybe Green Beer Day Parade.

They should not use the name of St. Patrick or besmirch the Catholic Church one minute longer. Let them call it what it is becoming The Queer Life Parade, I bet the faggots can’t wait to have giant dildo balloons and vibrator floats, and instead of marching bands they will have simulated sex acts........wait I think San Francisco already has a lock on all of this.

this is probably a textbook example of leftists’ ‘entryism’. slowly and creepily taking over an organization bit by bit and committee by committee. Somebody needs to send the affiliated organizations a copy of SJWs Always Lie -— social justice warriors infiltration and how to stop them cold. It’s a great book. Apparently the SJWs have infiltrated this organization for many, many years.

I know people are upset about this but personally that would be for the best. I have always hated this parade because it causes so much trouble in Manhattan. Gridlock, the drunken bridge and tunnel crowds and no spirituality anywhere on that day. Maybe it’s time to end it. Plenty of ways to honor St. Patrick without all this stupid stuff and putting up with gay idiots and snowflakes as the Gay Patriots call them.

In view that the city already has a “pride” parade, why the need for “inclusion” in this parade? This parade is for and about Irish Catholics and their saint. What next? Contingents of jews, lutherans and muslims in the Saint Patrick’s Day parade?
