Will the Communist Pope have any Guest Speakers? Perhaps Rev. Farrakhan? Black Lives Matter?

I’m Protestant and I pray for the pope. It gives me no joy to see any part of Christendom losing touch with the Lord. The Lord’s love is large, but a shapeless amoeba it is not.

Never saw you look quite so pretty before
Never saw you dress quite so handsome
What’s more?

I could hardly wait to keep our date
This lovely Papal morning
And my heart beat fast as I came through the door
For

In your Papal bonnet with all the frills upon it
You’ll be the grandest fella in the Papal Parade
I’ll be all in clover and when they look us over
We’ll be the proudest couple in the Papal Parade

On the avenue, Fifth Avenue, the photographers will snap us
And you’ll find that you’re in the rotogravure
Oh, I could write a sonnet about your Papal bonnet
And of the guy, I’m taking to the Papal Parade

con mucho amor,
Fidel

It must break the Lord’s heart to be reduced in the process to a “Christ child” to be “looked at for encouragement.” This isn’t salvation lite, this is not salvation at all. What of what He has done on the Cross? This “Christ child” (viewed as such) bears nobody’s sins away. We are going to get an unredeemed mess that way.

Afraid I don’t understand that diatribe. But wouldn’t it have been wonderful if, at this critical juncture in time, we got a new Pope who repudiated the leftist agenda, and reaffirmed our NEED for traditional Judeo-Christian Values, respect for LIFE, personal responsibility, the traditional family?

I guess you’d need some context for the Christ Child thing. Don’t know how well known the papal announcement is. He said that peoples of all religions should look on the Christ Child for encouragement and hope.

Without the one doing this understanding something of what the ministry of the Savior is about, this is a meaningless gesture. The Christ Child is not some spiritual rabbit’s foot.

By the way if you really want to see diatribe I can give you diatribe. I’m just lamenting here.

I also consider the situation of a woman with a failed marriage in her past and who also had an abortion. Then this woman remarries, and she is now happy and has five children. That abortion in her past weighs heavily on her conscience and she sincerely regrets it. She would like to move forward in her Christian life. What is the confessor to do?

“We cannot insist only on issues related to abortion, gay marriage and the use of contraceptive methods. This is not possible. Francis, Bishop of Rome

Pope Francis' niece has recently revealed that she was advised by her uncle, at that time Archbishop Bergoglio, that there was no need for her to wait for a declaration of annulment of her marriage before she entered into adultery.

Popes die with boots on. Pope Benedict XVI is the victim of a coup d’état. Imbroglio, or whatever is name is, is an imposter, an anti-Pope. This bastard says we should invite the Jihadi into our homes - to be slaughtered.
Pamela Geller is looking over our flock more than him.

My sign would say something like "Francis, why do you pretend to be pope?"

The Christ Child is not some spiritual rabbit’s foot.

Maybe the pope should not have included *you* and your particular faith, in his offering Baby Jesus for encouragement. But as Jesus did not have to "learn" how to be Jesus; He always was and is God, the Christ Child is filled with hope for us all... and what could be wrong with loving a divine perfect baby?

There are in fact biblical examples such as Simeon who said he could now go to the grave in peace having seen the Lord’s Messiah.

But Simeon understood who the Lord’s Messiah WAS. He was famous in prophecy.

And don’t be silly, I realize the Baby Jesus is the same Jesus who came on a salvation mission. Every theologically reasonable Christmas carol reminds me of that, to my joy.

Look: the concern I am voicing here is that people of non-Christian tradition, or those who only viewed church as an empty ritual, are going to get the wrong idea when they hear the words “baby Jesus” in an information vacuum. The pope could have put in a few more words of context, it seems. Like the Baby Jesus, the Savior from God for all mankind.

Better?

Why would a non-Christian have any interest in Baby Jesus to begin with? I think the pope did okay in this regard. And you aren’t giving people in general much credit. I think most people know that “Baby Jesus” is the infant form of Jesus, no?

If you are a Muslim, one of the chief people groups involved, they definitely have a different idea about Jesus, so different that it’s like to create a caricature and slap the name Jesus on it. This “Jesus” defers to Mohammed, a very fundamentally wrong notion. Lose the divine creds, lose any chance to apprehend Who He is.

A chance to edify, missed — but still could be supplemented. Why all the defensive argumentation? Why not pray for the right thing?
