self | June 26, 2015 | Romulus

Posted on 06/26/2015 7:46:40 AM PDT by Romulus

A longstanding and well-beloved member of this Forum (anonymous, so if you know the man, please do not reveal his name) tomorrow will be ordained as a priest of Jesus Christ. He has requested this thread so that prayers may be offered. Please join me in thanksgiving and petition that his vocation will be fruitful and joyous: Heavenly Father, grant these and other blessings unto thy servant, for thy glory and the salvation of souls. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Ad multos annos, gloriosque annos, vivas, vivas, vivas!

May this great man know the incredible thanks and gratitude those of us have in the pew for him.

May God bless him and all ordained and religious in the sacrificial life. Amen.

The day may be near when all priests will have to be anonymous. If he does not want his internet history picked over with hostile intent, he has the right to be anonymous in this forum.

For the record, I am able to say he has never posted anything that would do him discredit — which on the internet ought to narrow the field quite a bit!

Tu es sacerdos secundum ordinem Melchisedech.

(I am studying Latin, but we haven't gotten to the future tense, yet. OTOH, after tomorrow, God willing, the present tense will be accurate.)

O God, great in might and inscrutable in wisdom, marvelous in counsel above the sons of men: You the same Lord, fill with the gift of Your Holy Spirit this man whom it has pleased You to advance to the degree of Priest; that he may become worthy to stand in innocence before Your altar, to proclaim the Gospel of Your kingdom, to minister the word of Your truth, to offer to You spiritual gifts and sacrifices; to renew Your people through the font of regeneration, that when he shall go to meet You, at the second coming of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, Your only-begotten Son, he may receive the reward of good stewardship in the order given to him, through the plenitude of Your goodness.

For blessed and glorified is Your all-holy and majestic name, of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now, and ever and to the ages of ages.

AXIOS!

“Tu eris sacerdos in aeternum” would be the future, and God willing is true “et nunc et semper”.

Our new priest likes him a little Latin, I am thinking.

Many prayers for him. Is he young, or is this a 2nd vocation?

Know him and assure you of his dedication to serve the Catholic Church.

Prayer for a Priest

O Jesus, our great High Priest, Hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priest, Father [N]. Give him a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of his priestly life.

In his loneliness, comfort him In his sorrows, strengthen him In his frustrations, point out to him that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show him that he is needed by the Church, he is needed by souls, he is needed for the work of redemption.

O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to your heart your son who is close to you because of his priestly ordination, and because of the power which he has received to carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs him so much.

Be his comfort, be his joy, be his strength, and especially help him to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy.

Amen.
