Doctrinally, I have issues with Roman Catholicism. I also have issues with certain Roman Catholic FReepers who belittle those who follow Christ apart from the Roman Catholic Church.

But if someone follows Christ, regardless of denomination, I will call them “brother” or “sister.”

It is the pride of Rome that exalts itself above other believers...

...plus distorting the Gospel of Grace into a religious system of works.

That said, I’m grateful I was born into a Catholic family that taught me much about the Father. It was later I read the Scriptures and came to understand the Gospel.

Excellent! The Catholic Church has come a long way from the days they were expecting us all to convert to Catholicism. Kudos, Pope Francis!

FINALLY, he states something, I've always believed, (although it's made difficult to maintain my belief after reading some of the forum posts here)!

Francis added that the devil "knows that Christians are disciples of Christ, that they are one, that they are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals or Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic … he doesn't care! They are Christians."

Welllllll, Pope, I would strongly disagree with you there good buddy...most Baptists still toe a pretty hard line on what the good book says, whereas the Catholic Church...well, not so much(no guilt, everything is fine) — I mean, if we can’t get the church to defend its view on sanctity of life for fear of offending some politician, let alone its “evolving” view on gays...well, the church is becoming less and less relevant in people’s lives — The Catholic Church used to stand for something...

Roman Catholics are not of one mind with Biblical followers of the Risen Christ, and the reason is dogmatism by the Romanists beyond the authority given them by the Holy Scriptures, which is the sole writiten disclosure of the Messish and the Coming of His Kingdom of Righteousness and Peace; and which Scriptures solely present The God’s plan if reconciliation, justification, and sanctification; to wit, of irrevocable ratification of His salvation and eternal spiritual union with the believer, based on faith in the shed blood of The Lord and Christ Jesus.

John Paul II was a Pope whom I could deeply respect. Francis, unfortunately, I see just as another left-wing stooge dressed as a cleric.

Protestants already have too many of those.

That’s one thing that he’s said lately that I do agree with.

Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.271

We are not one.

We are either followers of Jesus Christ or some man-made place in Rome.

Pope Francis has said that it's the devil himself who keeps evangelicals, Catholics, and Christians from other denominations divided, and rejected the notion that it's heretical to believe that all Christians are one.

That's the Devil himself speaking; the Deceiver...He wants us to put our trust in the mother of Jesus...He wants us to work for our salvation, disqualifying us from ever receiving the grace of God...He wants us to bow down to his ministers in long robes, and call them Holy Father...

No thanks...

There was a time when all of Christendom was united. It was called the "Dark Ages". The Bible tells us that divisions are actually our strength. It is in our division that we can hold each accountable and make sure that the devil himself does not take charge. The Bible says the following...

1 Cor 11: 18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

Quick! Somebody send this to RNMomof7.

I agree. The devil has every interest in dividing Christians to conquer us, and has his useful dupes helping him.

It may take the Devil to keep many homosexual pedophile priest away from the boys, because this Pope isn’t going after that like recent other Popes.
