From Southern Baptist to Goddess Worship, Sue Monk Kidd

Excerpted:

What Catholic mysticism does is reject the Bible as the sole and sufficient and perfect revelation of God and tries to delve beyond the Bible, even beyond thought of any kind, and find God through mystical “intuition.” In other words, it is a rejection of the God of the Bible. It says that God cannot be known by doctrine and cannot be described in words. He can only be experienced through mysticism. This is a blatant denial of the Bible’s claim to be the very Word of God.

This opens the practitioner to demonic delusion. He is left with no perfect objective revelation of God, no divinely-revealed authority by which he can test his mystical experiences and intuitions. He is left with an idol of his own vain imagination (Jeremiah 17:9) and a doctrine of devils.

She (Sue Monk Kidd) determined that she was willing to lose her marriage, if necessary.

"I would not, could not forfeit my journey for my marriage or for the sake of religious acceptance or success as a ‘Christian writer.’ I would keep moving in my own way to the strains of feminine music that sifted up inside me, not just moving but embracing the dance. ... I felt the crumbling of the old patriarchal foundation our marriage had rested upon in such hidden and subtle ways. Though both of us would always need to compromise, there was no more sacrificing myself, no more revolving around him, no more looking to him for validation, trying to be what I thought he needed me to be. My life, my time, my decisions became newly my own" (pp. 98, 125).

“Catholics will still worship Mary.”

People who state this are either uneducated, ignorant, or bearing false witness.

>>“Catholics will still worship Mary.”<<

People who state this are either uneducated, ignorant, or bearing false witness.

You keep thinking this as you kneel before a statue of Mary, light candles before that statue and offer your prayers to Mary and hope she helps you with your salvation.

But catholics don't worship Mary.......

"But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." 1 Tim 3:15

The Church. Not the Bible.

Your post makes no sense in the context of the conversation.

For the Christian the Bible is the source of truth in matters of salvation and how to know God.

And the church looks to what document for the truth? The Word.

“But catholics don’t worship Mary....... “

That is correct. However, we can’t stop the illiterate from being illiterate, and thinking otherwise.

Bernadine: …all gifts, all virtues, and all graces are dispensed by the hands of Mary to whomsoever, when, and as she pleases. O Lady, since thou art the dispenser of all graces, and since the grace of salvation can ONLY come through thy hands, OUR SALVATION DEPENDS ON THEE.

Bonaventure: …the gates of heaven will open to all who confide in the protection of Mary. Blessed are they who know thee, O Mother of God, for the knowledge of THEE is the high road to everlasting life, and the publication of thy virtues is the way of ETERNAL SALVATION . Give ear, O ye nations; and all you who desire heaven , serve, honor Mary, and certainly you will find ETERNAL LIFE.

Ephem: …devotion to the divine Mother…is the unlocking of the heavenly Jerusalem.

Blosius: To the, O Lady, are committed the KEYS and the treasures of the kingdom of Heaven.

Ambrose: …constantly pray ‘Open to us, O Mary, the gates of paradise, since thou hast its KEYS.

Fulgetius: …by Mary God descended from Heaven into the world, that by HER man might ascend from earth to Heaven.

Athanasius: …And, thou, O Lady, wast filled with grace, that thou mightiest be the way of our SALVATION and the means of ascent to the heavenly Kingdom.

Richard of Laurence: Mary, in fine, is the mistress of heaven; for there she commands as she wills, and ADMITS whom she wills.

Guerric: …he who serves Mary and for whom she intercedes, is as CERTAIN of heaven as if he were already there…and those who DO NOT serve Mary will NOT BE SAVED.

Anselm: It suffices, O Lady, that thou willest it, and our SALVATION is certain.

Antoninus: …souls protected by Mary, and on which she casts her eyes, are NECESSARILY JUSTIFIED AND SAVED.

Sally Field? I’ve heard of Clover Field (Santa Monica), and Kelly Field (San Antonio), and Love Field
Dallas). Where is Sally Field?

You do know that subsequent councils and diets abrogate or change the actions of earlier ones, right? That is common among all institutions. Else, why even have subsequent bodies?

I believe that anyone who has passed still exists as a spirit. I believe they can hear the pleas and entreaties and “howdy’s” of those still inhabiting temporal bodies, if those pleas and entreaties and “howdy’s” are directed towards them.

I do not consider those to be “prayers” to them, but rather simple communications. Haven’t you ever said to someone near and dear to you who has passed: “Do you see your (son; daughter, grandson; granddaughter, etc.), and how beautiful (he, she, etc.” turned out?” That’s just an example.

As for Mary, I believe she holds a very special place in God’s kingdom. She holds a very special place because she is seen as the quintessential mother, the universal mother.

My question was whether or not heaven was on the 24-hour clock. As for your quote, I think Mark was referring to the time of a specific occurrence or event (i.e., only God knows when something will occur or happen), and NOT about the measurement of time in heaven.
