Full title: Christians in Niger Forgive Muslims Who Burned Churches and Killed Believers: 'We Want Them to Know Jesus Christ'

Christians living in Niger, West Africa have offered Christ-like forgiveness to the radical Muslims who destroyed their homes and churches, are are continuing to share the Gospel in the region.

On January 17, hundreds of Muslims, angered by the cartoons of the prophet Muhammad published by the French magazine Charlie Hebdo, destroyed 69 churches and 11 Christian homes. Ten Christians lost their lives and hundreds more were injured in the wake of the deadly rampage.

"They took pews, Bibles, chairs and sound equipment then set them on fire," said Pastor Musa Issa, whose church, Bethel Horizon, was among those destroyed. "They did this while chanting, 'Allahu Akbar!' I felt so sad. I started to cry."

He added, "I feel horrible...I ask myself 'Why'? Why did they do this to us? What did we do to deserve this?'" Now, three months later, Christians living in the region are working to rebuild their community, determined to still preach the Gospel despite the dangers.

"My prayer is that they would come to know Jesus and that the Lord would touch them even in a dream," Ruth, Pastor Issa's wife, told CBN. "I want God to do to them what He did to Paul the Apostle when he persecuted Christians. God touched him on his way to Damascus. I want those men to experience the same touch from God!"

"I tell our brothers and sisters that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities," said Boureima Kimso, head of the Alliance of the Evangelical Churches in Niger. "We have to encourage ourselves because persecution is part of the life of the Church. There is no church that existed without persecution."

But despite the government's lack of concern and pervasive danger in the region, the Pastor said he finds encouragement in the belief that God is preparing Christians in Niger for great times of revival.

"The Lord is training us; He's building us. There cannot be increase without hardships. If you want to go to the next level you have to go through hardship," Jadi said.

Evil has already lost. May Christ bless and keep these good people.

Nope. They are taught vengeance, murder, and subjugation, not forgiveness. They even do it to each other. Muhammed was a very bad person.

As a non-religious person I have stated on FR my fear that some Christians would not face up to the Islamic threat because the religions are so different, and the adherents think differently.
This is a perfect example of that thinking by some Christians. -Tom

While Christians pray the Muslims will prey. - Tom

Tom, do you believe God is and is the Creator?

As I understand it one of the reasons that isis is so determined to destroy Christians is that are a LOT of conversions occurring in that part of the world at present!!

I am an agnostic. There may very well be a God or Gods. I have no reason to believe I know anything about supernatural beings since I have no experience with them.

I understand the desire to believe in a supernatural being(s) because people fear death and want to think they can live on afterwards in a better condition if they follow a belief in a supernatural being, and get a reward for that.
Also a belief can help us getting over the unfair trials and tribulations we all encounter in this life.

As far as a Creator goes the world may have always existed therefore never having had a beginning, but our minds would have trouble reconciling that. so we say God created the world.
Then we are supposed to believe God always existed.
Well if you can believe that God always existed, why not believe the universe always existed.

A believe in God carries the chance of salvation, even if you have to murder your fellow humans as the Muslims do.- Tom

The fundamental Muslims will also kill those Muslims who they think are heretics like the Shia and their fellow Sunnis who are Infidel collaborators, and are not joining in the fight against us Infidels. -Tom

And I doubt they asked their victims for forgiveness (let alone acknowledge they did wrong) -- both of which are essential prerequisites to forgiveness. And even if they did all this it would be ludicrous to think they would ever atone for what they were forgiven for!

But ... the modern-day concept of forgiveness is streamlined -- You can be forgiven without even asking or admitting you did something wrong and without atonement.

They should rightfully forgive the Muslim heathens for their ignorance and justifiably hang them and bury them in pig styes.

Forgiving them is stupid. Only God can forgive them, and He’ll do it only if they deserve it. The subhuman savages haven’t stopped the murder and haven’t turned to God, so to Hell with them all.

Though forgiven by their Christian victims, the Muslim terrorists should still be made to forfeit their lives to preserve the authority and order of civilization. Kill all of them.

Wow, such a strained response to such simple yes or no questions. Do you believe you, the individual you existed before your birthday?

As I remember, it took some real ass kickers to stop the spread of Islam. What is this forgiveness crap if not weakness.

Extreme pacifism was workable in the days of the Roman Empire, when the Legions would protect the pacifists. Yes, some Christians were thrown to the lions when they became too outspoken about not worshiping the Emperor, but any who kept their mouths shut, worked, and paid their taxes could pretty much expect to be left alone.

Then Rome fell, and the barbarian hordes came to rape, pillage, and murder. It became the case that either some Christians laid aside pacifism and became the protectors of the rest, or things would get really ugly. And so Christianity survived.

An atheist could answer with a no.
A religous person would answer yes.
As an agnostic I just don't know.

Lets get back to ISIS.
They have religious beliefs so strong they are willing to die for them, and take us Infidels with them.
That's the problem us religious, atheistic or agnostic Infidels face. - Tom

Oh yes, I agree, we face an horrific enemy. As a Christian I would define that horrific enemy as using these dead soul Islamic spawn to do the evil that that non-physical enemy cannot do because it has no body with which to perpetrate the deeds.

Also as a Christian I would say that this palpable enemy -that is pure evil- hates what God loves, and that is us who God loves. God does not violate our free will and force us to believe and accept His Grace, and this is a source of sadness for God because so many reject His Grace. Will U.S. accepting His Grace toward us stop the dead soul jihadis? No, it takes bullets and bombs at this point to terminate their service to the evil one.

Even more sad to contemplate is where these dead souls have been cultivate, to be manipulated. I'm afraid much of the service to the evil one has US government agency fingerprints all over it. I'm convinced that Benghazi was a filthy arms deal gone wrong, that perhaps the Mooseslime brotherhood found out Hillary was selling/transferring too good weaponry to the newest vermin -ISIS- for use in Syria, so they took the action taken in Benghazi.

Finally, to you, allow me to say that this is a war between forces unseen by us, and especially unseen if we don't acknowledge the presence of real evil guiding and goading these jihadis. God has made our phase shift to the next stage God has for our existence so easy that many do not accept the gift because there is a whispering cynicism telling them they haven't earned it and cannot earn it. Well, that's half right, I cannot earn such a Grace as God offers, but I may receive it simply by accepting Him, Jesus, The Christ, the Risen One Who is alive forever more. *snap* That's all it takes and it is yours. THEN He will enter your life to gently guide you forward on a magnificent journey. Might be bullets and such in that future, but it is not going to end with some jihadi killing you even though he kill you. The body is but a taxi for the journeying soul of you.

BTW, those jihadis are also destined for a future eternal, but that is so horrific, that we are even told to pray for them! I haven't gotten to the point that I can fully pray for them. I'm stuck at the 'shoot them all and let God sort them out' stage because I am so nauseated with their service to evil perpetrated over the innocent. It's the same way I feel about abortionists, btw, though I have yet to shoot a slaughterer of the alive unborn.
