Rubio: I Would Attend Gay Wedding of Family Member, Friend

Although he thinks marriage should be between a man and a woman, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio says he would attend a same-sex wedding of a family member or friend to show his support for someone he cares about.

Rubio was interviewed Wednesday by Fusion's Jorge Ramos, who asked the Republican presidential candidate whether he would attend the wedding of a gay friend or co-worker if invited.

"If there's somebody that I love that's in my life, I don't necessarily have to agree with their decisions, or the decisions they've made, to continue to love them and participate in important events," Rubio answered.

The situation would be much like attending the wedding of a person who was previously divorced, which also is prohibited by his Catholic faith, he explained.

"If it's somebody in my life that I care for, of course I would" attend their wedding, Rubio said. "I'm not going to hurt them simply because I disagree with a choice they've made or because I disagree with a decision they've made, or whatever it may be."

Why do these people answer these hypothetical gotcha questions?

actually I prefer fishing to any wedding, hell I’d paint my house or cut the grass before attending any wedding.

Rubio’s blatant duplicity on amnesty was bad enough to leave me extremely distrustful of him, but otherwise I still thought he was at least generally conservative on this kind of issue. Apparently not. America’s moral rot obviously doesn’t bother him, or he’s yet another cowardly GOP-er who’s ready to cowtow to the homo-fascists.

This is the final nail for me, in regards to Rubio. He will never get my vote under any circumstances, either top or bottom of the ticket.

I’m going to take heat for this, but I agree with Rubio here. While I disagree, with some decisions, family trumps all.

Obviously an attempt at showing the Men Seeking Men media how "tolerant" he is in order to garner their favor.

Tell me how that works out for you, Marco.

"How about weddings of gay immigrants, Marco?"

Sorry, that would kill it.

So if your family member was getting married at the church of Satan you would also attend?

It’s “forbidden” for a Catholic to attend a Protestant service? Thats just not true.

“....furthermore,” Rubio continued, “why do we permit Americans to own guns? Guns are awful. I also object to anyone who dislikes Common Core. Furthermore, the concept of Private Property is a dead letter in America. We need central, communist planning.”

What would Jesus talk about at the dinner?

At the sodomite wedding, would Jesus remain silent when the minister asked if anyone objected to the union?

For evil to succeed.........

Pretty sure Marco isn’t a Catholic for sometime now. He is a protestant now. I suppose it is not the point anyhow as to which.

I feel for those Tea Party saps who forked over their hard earned dough for this puke.

Maybe you could use a little perspective. First, same sex marriage is not the foundational idea behind the Tea Party. Second, without Rubio running Charlie Crist out of the party and kicking his butt, maybe Mike Lee and Ted Cruz don't even think they have a chance. We may never have heard of Cruz without Rubio's success.

Do I support him for Prez? No no no. But those Tea Party "saps" as you call them who supported him - helped do all of us a lot of favors - even if he's not the answer now.

I would never attend a homosexual wedding. Even if my best friend ever were to have one.

The left has, once again, subtly changed the discussion in order to trap republicans. The issue isn’t whether Rubio (or Cruz or Walker or even Jeb Freaking Bush) would attend a gay wedding. The issue is whether a florist or a baker or a pizza pie maker should be forced to go against his religious beliefs and supply goods for a gay wedding.

Since none of the putative republican candidates is in the business of providing goods or services to weddings, the entire discussion is moot. It’s a clever liberal device that, based on what I’ve seen on this thread, is working as planned. If Rubio says he would boycott a gay wedding, he is branded as a right-wing zealot and a homophobe. If he says he would go to such a wedding, he alienates Catholics and others of strong religious beliefs. The correct answer would be: “It’s my personal decision whether or not to attend, and, since it has no bearing on the way I would govern, I’m not going to answer it. Now, I will answer questions about whether or not religious beliefs, as promised in the First Amendment can be used as a reason for a business owner to not provide his services.”

It’s forbidden for a Catholic to attend a protestant service if he can get to a Catholic Mass. You can’t pick and choose where you want to go to church. Rubio has to know this and disregards the teachings of the Catholic Church because in his young life his family were not devout Catholics and even attended morman services when they lived in Utah in the 80s.
