From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

How did you come to that conclusion from what I wrote about “holy/magical/mystical water”? People were “born again” by water baptism before the Catholic church was ever formed. John the Baptist baptized Jesus in a river!

But only the special count?

What in the heck are you talking about. You're the one who brought up "holy water". Only Catholics say that you need "holy water" to baptize someone.

Well it was...until He transubstantiated it into His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.....and then it wasn't.

Did Jesus say he transubstantiated it??? Nope he sure didn't...Did Jesus tell any one else to transubstantiate it??? He certainly did not...Your religion took it upon themselves to assume that he did...

But even AFTER Jesus called the wine blood, he admitted that it was only the juice of the fruit of the vine...

So you really DO NOT believe what Jesus said...

He may have written things antisemitic but please save the actions on Jews to others.

There’s some history you are not filling here.

But let us not get into such rantings. As we both witness the futility of bad antisemitic popes who murdered Jews and Luther who murdered them on paper. Both are sin and reprehensible.

Hmmmmm, Jesus said that it was His Body and Blood....I choose Jesus

Always wondered about that. Perhaps you can shed some light on the following:

1. At the Passover meal before His crucifixion, were the disciples in the upper room eating Christ's flesh and drinking His Blood while He stood before them?

2. If that is the case, if the Last Supper was the first instance of transubstantiation, then the consumed flesh and blood was pre-crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.

3. If two is true then after the resurrection, the disciples partook of the Glorified Christ. Is the above your understanding?

No I’m wondering how the act of baptism can differenciate between who is a lutheran...or a methodist...or a protestant....or a catholic...

Same water...same god....yes?

So what makes the baptism different?

How does one become baptised as a lutheran?

Does it only matter upon who is doing the baptism?

“He may have written things antisemitic but please”

Please what?...the founder of your sect is a Jew hater.....and if you follow his word...how can you not be?...unless you reject his words and pick and choose what he has written?

catch 22

“How did you come to that conclusion from what I wrote about “holy/magical/mystical water”? People were “born again” by water baptism before the Catholic church was ever formed. John the Baptist baptized Jesus in a river!”

And I was baptised too....is my baptismal less than Jesus’s becuase it was done in a church with blessed water..or becuase of my age at the time?

Sorry, you both are wrong. They're baptized into the family of God. No denomination.

I was baptized as a baby into the Roman Catholic church without my knowledge or consent. It was done TO me. But it wasn't until my baptism at a little Southern Baptist church - after I came to the knowledge of the truth of the gospel of the grace of God and received Jesus Christ as my Savior - that it was a genuine baptism into the family of God. This was my outward act of identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that from henceforth I would walk in newness of Life. It was my answer of a good conscience before God of what HE had done within my soul. That really is the ONLY baptism that counts.

I noticed you cut off my comments.

Luther was not a Pope. He was not an apostle. He was as much a “saint” as the pope and bishops opposing him. Which is not saying much.

If you use your line of argument you nuke your own royal line of popes. You also nuke papal infallibility.

The “impeaching the witness” routine is a modern leftist tactic. I know you are conservative on a conservative site so try not to use the enemy’s tactics.

There were Catholic popes, Catholic councils too, well before and AFTER Luther which oppressed, tortured and murdered Jews. Luther was raised and educated Catholic. Is it surprising he retained much of the antisemitism of Catholic history? No not surprising.

So if you want to use leftist witness impeachment, say no more. Your Popes throughout history, even to the 20th, impeach each Catholics walking the earth today. Go ahead ask any Jew today which Christians they can trust. They will most likely tell you they only trust Americans who are Christian. They will tell you they know Catholics and Protestants in Europe oppressed, tortured and murdered them in the past and in modern history as well. But the US is different to them. A nation founded on clear simple Biblical Christian principles.

So let’s step out of the bloody past and discuss the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I ask, where do you find the Gospel? Where is the Gospel clearly stated?

So are you in denial that martin Luther is the father of protestants all the sudden?

Sorry...History disagree’s with you.

So if Hitler walked in and ask to be baptised as an adult right along side you and born again.....would he then go to heaven like you?

Or would you have an issue with that?

.
The tacky answer:

>> “If God, the creator of the universe holds a loaf of bread in His hands and says “THIS IS MY BODY”...then it is.” <<

.
But it wasn’t”God the creator of the universe” speaking!

It was Yeshua the man, teaching his fellow men the meaning of a tradition that his people had kept since Abraham had honored the Melek Zedek.

But I would never expect a catholic to grasp that, so I’m not greatly disappointed in your miss.

.

Ok...so why did God wait 1500 years for you to show up?

Was God’s plan to fool the faithful into going to hell for 1500 years as pagans and cult members??

If you are all the true word of God....why wait 1500 years to show up?

.
They are identified in Revelation.

Mystery Babylon is explained to be “The great men of the Earth. Those of privilege and power.

Obviously the guards at the vatican do fall into that class, as do the cardinals, and the members of our congress.
.
I’ll disregard your hollow sarcastic rudeness.
