From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Afraid your forefathers missed imprisoning a few? Well, a remnant has always escaped tyrants by the Grace of God. We're still here, for now

Yeah, Columbus looked for some of you to help him discover America but you escaped that responsibility too I guess.

“And how long have you been presiding over this court; Your Honor?”

While you sit and judge others....

Put 100 catholics and ask them to read scripture, and they’ll kneel down with their demon beads an worship Easter/Mary.

Senseless, useless post, that.

>>You even called him “demonic”.<<

Please show the post where she did that. I wouldn't want to think that was just a spurious comment.

You answer is not responsive to the question.

I replied only because you posted to me.

Perhaps we should just be done. Deal?

Thanks for your reply. I’d post the Catholic apologetic response to the Holy Eucharist being only symbolic, but I am certain you are familiar with most if not all.

On the specific point you make:

>> NOT “in a perpetual ongoing sacrifice of me”, but to REMEMBER.

I don’t see a reason why this is a dichotomy. It can also be complementary.

Sorry, you both are wrong. They're baptized into the family of God. No denomination.

Sorry, you're wrong....Catholicism is not a denomination...it is pure Christianity....when you are Baptized, you are baptized Christian....and that is, by definition, Catholic. There are those who for some unexplained reason choose not to participate in Christ's church but want to remain Christian....they are called protestants.

We are commanded to judge and discern whether something is of God or not.

Every decision we make in life is based on our judgment.

How else do you determine what is true and false?

Didn't you try to hold Dr. White up[ as one of YOUR experts a while ago?

Not me. Never heard of the guy.

Nor do I put any stock in *experts*.

I'm not a respecter of persons.

There is only one reason that anyone would PRETEND, as you do, not to recognize that those statements were ironic: fully deliberate malice.

Sorry, you describe yourself as a Catholic priest on your profile page here at FR.

IMO no real Catholic priest would ever say something like that in jest, so I believed you meant it and it was part of what your were taught at priest school. Seminary, whatever.

It's not any more bizarre than believing that Mary appears and talks to little girls, that she appears in a tree stump (Watsonville, Ca come years ago), that she appeared to a guy named Juan Diego in 1531 and left her miraculous image on Juan Diego's outer garment and many other unbelieveable "appearances."

Documented as valid by the Catholic church.

So what you said seemed in line with all these other things that Catholics must believe.

You do know that accusing a poster of malice, libel or slander...actionable legal terms...can get you banned?

John 7:24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

Here Jesus commands us to judge.

Catholics lead people away from Yeshua, and teach pagan practices like the mass, eucharist, icons, idols, easter, prayers to dead humans, and more.

Its a sickening thing to behold to one that accepts the word of God.

He (Martin Luther) was also founder of the protestants......do you really want to argue written history now?

Why are you so squeamish about the founder of the protestants all the sudden?

Shouldnt he be like a saint or something by now?...it’s been a whole 500 years...
