From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Nobody has free will.

We are slaves to sin or slaves to God.

Nobody is a free and independent moral agent.

Not unless you and your friends want the never ending discussion. They are the ones that turned it into another Catholic bashing thread.

On what started out as a Prot bashing thread.

Now THAT'S funny to hear that complaint.

I could give a rat’s patootie about your beliefs. Why the obsession with mine?

Then why'd you post this thread and the many others like it?

The last of the 2014 batch of rose-petal wine? Just a thought.

I started with a Tiger...

That's a relief!

For a minute, I thought you might be talking about raising those stray underfoot wild things that 15-year-old boys used to go hunting together, each with a .22 in hand.

This is the Paunsagunt Plateau which is also part of the Grand Staircase. The formation on the left is Sugar Knoll and the one on the right is Diana's Throne.

Sorry we have to live here but somebody's got to do it

Wow. Look how creative God can be while destroying all of mankind...minus the eight saved.

You guys have to put up with some pretty exotic views out there and in surrounding States. Thanks for carrying the load for us former Blue Ridge mountaineers turned SC piedmonters who now have to look out at our neighbors (ever-growing) pine trees. (Thanks for nothing, neighbors)

What's that in degrees? My place has a 10' difference across about 1/4 mile.

Here 37% is read as 37 degrees.

That means I have aprox 10' drop over 30'-35'.

“Nobody has free will.

The dumbest statement I have ever read in my life and this coming from an EVANGELICAL who claims she knows her Bible. How “Calvinist” of you..........

Man is truly free and God calls him to freely choose to serve or not to serve the Lord. From the famous Old Testament charge of Joshua to “choose this day whom you will serve . . . but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” (Jo 24:15) to the very words of Jesus Christ himself, “If any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink” (Jn 7:37), man’s freedom to choose to obey or disobey the will of God for salvation is absolutely central to the teachings of Sacred Scripture.

Mary was not asked. She was told how it was going to be.

And all this time I thought that God granted us a free will....live and learn...

That's just it, "you're" not. That's WHY it is called arrogance and condescending superiority. And I wouldn't call it "fun", I'd call it hilarious, as in FUNNY!

Thanks...I try harder!!

"All Christians should strive for perfection..."

The fact that no person can be perfect is why everyone needs a Savior - and just as importantly, why everyone needs the new life of Christ, instead of the proud Adamic life we are born with.

Sanctification and good works are an expression of the life of Christ inside the believer as fruit is born - not a striving for perfection, which is exactly what the pride of the Adamic self-life desires.

Best.

Apparently Catholics who choose to ignore the words of Jesus Himself when He says to call no man on earth *father*.

Or taught us to pray saying *Our FATHER.*

Handled any snakes lately? Spoken in tongues?

Gouged out any eyes or cut off any hands?

Jesus said we're to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect. That's one of His commands, too.

How's doing that one working out for you?

I think it's right before the verse that says take and eat of this"THIS IS MY BODY" .or near it at least...How come some things apply and some do not??...When He said call no man father did He mean His daddy Joseph....when He said take and drink of this, "THIS IS MY BLOOD" was He just kidding???

I think that's a much more meaningful statement than call no man father....
