Maybe I just travel in different circles than the author, but in all my many decades on this earth I have NEVER ONCE heard a Catholic say that, or anything close to that.
Me either. The author, in my opinion, is stalking a straw man of his own making.
Never heard any Catholic ever use that question so not sure who the author is talking too.
I haven’t heard that either. But I HAVE had evangelicals and fundamentalists try to tell me I’m not a Christian because I’m Catholic!
As a Catholic, I would never deny Christ to a Protestant who calls upon His name. I would ask for the same unity from a Protestant.
I remind Protestants of this:
John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. For he who is not against us is for us. For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.”
Mark 9:38-41
How do Catholics identify themselves on this forum? What is the title of their "caucus" threads? Do they follow only what Christ taught (Christians) or do they follow the additional teachings of the Catholic Church (Catholics) which Christ did not teach?
The anti catholic bigots will be along shortly to put you straight.
me neither
“I have NEVER ONCE heard a Catholic say that, or anything close to that.”
And you never will. LOL! Ignorance is not limited to the Liberal Blogs.
Right I have not hear that. However I have heard catholics at this site claim that protestants are not saved and that one has to be a Catholic to be saved.
I have but they are “Catholics” who have a cultural connection with Catholicism and no practical participation. They may have been baptized but never attended church beyond that. So they say they are Catholic. My DIL was like that.
She was baptized and had her 1st Communion and attended midnight Mass every year and that was the extent of her participation and education.
I got she and her sister to attend RCIA and they are now active Catholics.
Years afterward the sister worked at a prison and her boss was severely anti-Catholic they had an ongoing discussion which was often, on his part, vicious. He later got fired (not because of that but allegations of fraud and he went downright crazy. The boss she has now is also Catholic.
