How Many Protestant Denominations Are There?

Partial List of 5000+ Protestant Denominations by Name

How Many Protestant Denominations Are There?    The 20,000 / 30,000 numbers and David Barrett's statistics

"The Facts and Stats on "33,000 Denominations" The 20,000 / 30,000 numbers and David Barrett's statistics
Part II

(Above links derived from here) ===> ("How Many Protestant Denominations Are There?")

⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪

There are many, many more Protestant denominations out there, not just those reflected in the links above.    How many?    Well, nobody really knows for sure exactly how many Protestant denominations exist at any given point in time, because after you get done counting the first forty or fifty thousand, several thousand more new ones pop up here and there all over the place, like popping pop corn!      :-)

We Catholics love all our Protestant brothers and sisters (no matter how many denominations or "non-denominations" they belong to), and we simply want to share the fullness of the truth with them, so that they can find the precious jewel (the "pearl of great price") that we have already found (by the Grace of God).     With that in mind, the following song is dedicated to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, and their ever-increasing number of distinct and ever-changing denominations with contradictory, mutually-exclusive, incompatible teachings.    (And, no, that is not a bunch of cardinals singing that song!)

(Song -- "Bless 'em All!")

(This song is a tribute to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, no matter what denomination -- or "non-denomination" -- they are currently in.)

"I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment."     (1 Corinthians 1:10)

>>I'm gonna bookmark this so every time a FRoman Catholic starts to engage in disputes concerning Catholicism, I can point them to the "rules" and how they are excommunicating themselves (Latae sententiae). That'll shut 'em up, right??!! ;o)<<

LOL I wouldn't bet on the "shut em up" part. It is interesting that the hierarchy of the Catholic Church would have considered them excommunicated however. Evidently the lay people are not to spread the gospel as scripture admonishes us to do. It's one more instance of the duplicity that is Catholicism. Oh, and proof that they haven't changed in 2000 years right.

Scott Hahn is a Preterist who couldn’t think for himself in a Baptist environment and needed the fixed propaganda of he Catholic cult.

Sadly, no... Their retort will merely come from the other side of their mouth.

I’ll wait to see if any FR Catholics denounce this woman.

If they don’t; I guess that would mean they agree with what she has written.

Good post Els. That was me until 1970, while on active duty with the USAF, the Navigators got to me. Perhaps you have heard of them. Dawson Trotman has always been a person I looked up to, even though he is long since gone. He wrote books, and books have been written about him, though I have never read any of them. I should get off my duff and read some shouldn't I?

“That’s because protestants have had an inferiority complex for the last 500 years.”

I don’t see it that way, watching what unfolds on FR.

“Do you consider yourself an apostle, ie., equivalent to an apostle”

You mean like the Catholic bishops claim? Even though they don’t meet the Biblical qualifications for apostles and cannot display the gifts of apostles? Like that?

If a Catholic Church bishop does not meet “Biblical qualifications” then who does T.D. Jakes? LOL.

“I thought you just asserted/concurred in your post 148 re : post 145 re: post 3, that 2 people constitute a church and are equal to the original Jewish Apostles.”

The verse he cited said “equal”, while you seem to be arguing that he claimed “equivalence”. They are two separate concepts.

Well, I can think of at least 13 names to give you, but I would hope you would already be familiar with them. You certainly have enough buildings dedicated to them that some should have stuck in your memory.

I once asked if Yeshua would approve of Roman emperors presiding over councils and active in appointing and removing bishops.

Crickets.

The population of Catholic Army Chaplains is small.

Catholics, however, make up 25 percent of all troops but only 8 percent of the chaplain corps

The main contributing factor to the shortage of chaplains within the military stems from a general drop in the number of Catholic priests worldwide. Since 1980, the priesthood has decreased by 10 to 12 percent per decade, according to a 2005 Catholic University analysis, http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/10/30/the-catholic-crunch-inside-the-shortage-of-catholic-military-priests

Thanks Boogieman. Catholics will never understand that unless God opens their eyes. They have the concept of the "church" that the Catholic Church has taught them and are oblivious to the true meaning of "assembly" or the body of Christ.

This will make you sad one moment and enraged the next...

Several Hundred Islamic Muslim's have taken over the Washingtons 'Christian' National Cathedral, Friday November 2014...laying their prayer rugs as the "victory" throughout this day of Prayer..... Most made pointed references to 'the symbolism' of the majestic 'Christian' building, where rugs had been laid for prayer......

The Arabic call to prayer echoed throughout...as they called on their pagan Mood God Allah....... followed by a sermon from Ebrahim Rasool, a Muslim scholar who is South Africa’s ambassador to the United States........

Dean of the cathedral, spoke of how Marvelous the sounds of Arabic prayers were, which he called “a beautiful sacred language in a beautiful sacred space"............

One a well-dressed middle-age woman in the audience suddenly rose and began shouting!!!!.... “America was founded on Christian principles. . . . Leave our church alone!”...... She was swiftly ushered out by security aides.

Special note...

...though it is 'our' National Christian Cathedral it was 'closed to the public' for this Islamic event with heavy security and police checking every name and bag.... but yet was covered live by several Arabic-language television channels broadcasting it into the Arab nations!!!!!

"Church-chi-anity"..., which is all this Cathedral now represents, is very different than the Christianity as practiced by Jesus and his Apostles, who practiced NO interfaith, refused take part in politics or their country's wars, and were sacrificed to the lions for their stand of being "no part of the world", because it is as it was then, under Satan's control..... We can expect a very violent future of the US if Islam were to gain any greater foothold than it now has....and it is moving across this nation at lightening speed via stealth Jihad.

I will say this.....Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain, those who build it. .. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord Jesus Christ..

This is the the cathedral’s director of liturgy Rev. Gina Campbell...who along with 'Ebrahim Rasool' (below) who is a South African politician that is currently serving as the 'South African' Ambassador to the United States...together brought the Islamic event into what they describe is referenced as..."The Spiritual Church of the Nation"..

What this really is these people are promoting the Unity of Islam and False Christianity for the coming One World religion....and it has well rooted itself in our Capital City.... and with the Vatican...in fact it's moving rapidly because there is no push back...

That’s because protestants have had an inferiority complex for the last 500 years.

Is that why there are so many FRoman Catholic posted threads bashing "Protestants", because it's the Protestants than feel inferior??? You must be joking!

I think it's because some Roman Catholics feel inferior when their sacred invented dogmas and accursed gospel gets challenged along with their open resentment towards non-Catholic Christians who joyfully claim our assurance of eternal salvation secure in Christ by faith. What is there to feel inferior about when you are a blood-bought child of Almighty God?

"Perhaps the question ought to be formed as: How many variations of Christianity are there? Just as there are many variations of the rose, there are variations of Christianity. As one says that each variation is still a rose, so we as Christians are still Christians."

=============================================================

That contains a measure of truth, GreyFriar, and has a positive element to it, but we must also keep in mind that Our Lord also wants us all to know the truth (the real truth).

Now, all these denominations cannot possibly be correct in all their teachings, as they teach things that are contradictory, and mutually exclusive.    For example, consider the central teaching of all Christianity -- "salvation".    (Salvation is one of the main teachings of all Christianity, as that is the reason Jesus assumed a human nature, and was crucified -- to offer salvation to humanity.)

Some Protestant denominations (like the Calvinist ones, and the various other "once-saved-always-saved" ones) believe and teach that you cannot lose your salvation after genuinely accepting it, and other Protestant denominations like the Methodists and Seventh Day Adventists believe and teach that you can lose your salvation after genuinely accepting it.

One of those extremely important teachings is true, and the other is false.    (A teaching cannot be completely true and false at the same time.)    The truth comes from Jesus Christ, and all falsehood come from the "father of all lies", Satan.    Jesus wants us to know the truth, so he doesn't want us to cover up false teachings and hide them so that "we can all just get along".    He wants us to clearly discern and know the truth, and to declare it boldly.

We love all our Protestant brothers and sisters, but if we find that they are teaching a false teaching, we try to respectfully point that out, just like we try to point out false teachings coming from "Catholics" like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden.
