NO BIG BANG WITHOUT GOD, SAYS POPE FRANCIS

The Big Bang “doesn’t contradict the intervention of a divine Creator, but demands it,” Pope Francis said Monday morning, because the beginning of the world “is not the work of chaos.” The Pope was addressing the plenary assembly of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, gathered in the Vatican to discuss “Evolving Concepts of Nature.” God is not some sort of wizard, said Francis, but rather “the Creator who brought all things into being.” The origin of the world derives directly “from a supreme Principle of creative love,” he added. “Evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve.”

this clearly shows the RCC does not believe the Bible

2 Corinthians 6:17King James Version (KJV)

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Sounds more like instructions on how to deal with ebola victims.

The big bang theory originated with Monseigneur Georges Lemaître.

Really?

So the first mover theory put forth by St Thomas Aquinas, long before you and your “sola scripture” nonsense was put forth by ignorant louts which is the absolute basis for the Pope’s argument is not theologically correct?

Sola Scripture is probably the most wholly ignorant theological branch of “Christianity” ever devised, and frankly has kept as many if not more people ignorant as the Koran.

“Evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve.”

And there's the money quote.

Evolution is not supported by Scripture. Man has not "evolved".

Man was created in God's image. God's image doesn't evolve.

If you don't get Genesis correct, you won't get the rest of the Bible correct.

With all due respect, how does that verse tie in with whether or not God created the Big Bang?

No grass under your feet when bashing Catholics I see. And your passage does not even address the topic at hand but is rather a broad slap at anyone who disagrees with your interpretation of Bible (I will leave discussions about the accuracy of the KJV for another time).

This is the Religion forum and I thought such conduct was undesirable...

uhhh....you might want to rethink that. The Bible has done more to free people than the Koran ever dreamed of doing.

Either God created the universe ex-nihilo or He didn't.

If He is not capable of doing so, He is not capable of being God.

Without God we have no answer for how the universe came into existense.

Why?

Something can't come from nothing and life can not come from lifelessness.

The Catholic Church has been blessed with many intellectual giants over the centuries, but Frances will never be accused of being one of them.

Secular “creation” story:

“In the beginning, there was nothing, and it exploded.”

That requires a degree of faith greater than any Believer has.

To a certain sort of person, a simple assertion like "the sun rises in the east" or "snow is white" clearly shows the RCC does not believe the Bible .

Folks see what they want to see.

>>Evolution is not supported by Scripture. Man has not “evolved”.<<

Based on some interpretations of the Bible. Others, obviously, disagree.

But this isn’t about TToE, it is about a logical ties the Pope has made between The Big Bang and God.

(PS: I will NOT discuss TToE on this thread).

>>“In the beginning, there was nothing, and it exploded.”<<

Sounds like Genesis to me. And of course you possess the science background to argue against the data that suggest it must have started that way.

That is exactly what the Pope is saying. It is he same level of faith as believe in Genesis and they do in fact tie in perfectly.
