There was apparently a revolt against the pre-planned, prepackaged "interim report" engineered by Pope Francis' last-minute appointments:

Hagan lio! -synod bishops revolt

This is Fr. Z - a better source than the MSN.

This is simply damage control. The perps got caught and now they’re spinning.

Furthermore, the Pope read and approved it prior to its release.

From http://www.thecatholicthing.org/synod_report/synod_report/synod-day-10-a-ton-of-vaseline.html

“A reliable source told me Pope Francis was sent the text last Saturday morning, returned it to the Synod leaders Sunday, all before it appeared Monday. So as has long been the case, we do not know his thoughts other than he didn’t interfere in the release.”

He may be baiting them to catch them. He once let slip that he considers the Lavender Mafia more dangerous than any tattered random old bugger.

Does that explain the sacking of Cardinal Burke and other conservatives? Does that explain his arbitrary appointment of six progressives to the group composing the relatio on Friday to counter the conservatives who were unexpectedly elected by the Synod Fathers to complete the task? Does that explain his personal appointment of Archbishop Forte, a known dissenter on homosexual issues, to be secretary (and therefore in a position to insert the pro homosexual verbiage) of the Synod? Does that explain his behind the scenes support for gay civil unions in Argentina as a Cardinal, a position diametrically opposed to numerous Vatican documents at the time?

I find this idea that the Pope is just being a crafty old fox trying to out the liberals to be beyond reason when the opposing reality has become so blatantly obvious.

Pope Francis is engineering all this. He is just using all these progressives as a form of plausible deniability, to keep the Faithful in the pews until its a fait accompli. The idea that any of this could be happening without his support and personal engineering strains credulity.

You seem to have the clearest insights into this of anyone here.

When the watchman at the gate sees the Barbarian hordes through the fog approaching the fort, does he wait till he sees the whites of their eyes to sound the alarm? Furthermore, what if the watchman has been forewarned that those hordes are approaching? Does it then become dereliction of duty to “wait and see”?

This is a rhetorical question, and I’m really struggling with what to say and not say about this Pope.

Catholic prophecy is pretty clear about what is going on here.

Brian, I am sorely depressed about this synod and this report. And this pope.

It has led me to believe that this pope is corrupt, a hippie Jesuit, and, if he keeps flapping his gums any longer, a heretic.

My take on the gay marriage thing is that it is fulfilling what Jesus said about the "abomination of desolation spoken of in the Book of Daniel" (Jesus referred to the Book of Daniel and how the Abomination was a sign to the faithful to flee the cities in anticipation of some horrible chastisement.)

Gay marriage is an abomination because it has always been considered so, from the Old Testament on. The '...of desolation' part, I believe, refers to the absolute ruin this brings to society, just as the gay sex act produces no offspring, no life.

This was brought home to me in a fierce way several years ago when I walked past a beautiful Episcopalian church in Boston a few years ago. The doors were open because it was a warm June day. At the other end of the aisle, in the sanctuary, in the distance, I saw two males defiling the church by pretending to be married in front of a spineless and gullible crowd.

It has yet to be condoned in the Catholic Church, but, unfortunately, because of the results of this synod, we are all forced to consider that the Catholic Church will soon allow this abomination. Why otherwise would the language of the gay lifestyle be so friendly? There is no exclusion or persecution of gays by Catholics now, is there? Am I missing something? They are not refused communion.

They are sure not discriminated against when they apply to become seminarians, or seek promotion up in the Church hierarchy, including the episcopate, and many, many high places in the administration of the Vatican, right?

Anyway, please elaborate on what Catholic prophecy is clear about what is going on here. Are we talking about the same thing?

Do an Internet search on Venerable Ann Catherine Emmerich and the “two popes prophecy.” Also Our Lady of Akita specifically talks about dissension between cardinals and bishops. And Our Lady of Fatima has something to do with all this. See this post from Fr. Z:
