You’ll also find problems with polygamy in Utah ...

Polygamy has far more basis in human tradition than fudgepacker marriage. You can’t open the Pandora’s box of the later without allowing the former.

Almost all of Africa, the Middle East and most Muslim countries elsewhere practice polygamy and have for centuries. This is news? Same sex marriage has no historical basis, whereas polygamy is as close as your Bible, as far as history is concerned. Abraham, David, Moses, Saul, Esua, Ezra, Solomon, Simeon, Gideon, Hosea and on and on.

Polygamists at least have the excuse that they haven’t read all of their Bible and have misinterpreted the early verses. What excuses do the Sodomites have, other than being in league with Satan and hating the Bible?

FWIW, a great many American buildings indeed are built using wood frame construction, and they aren’t all that flammable if done right.

The problem is that they’re talking about Christian churches, where polygamy has never been okay. And even Jews abandoned polygamy as they grew into God’s law.

Polygamy is a very primitive pre-Revelation social structure in which a powerful man gets to collect a herd of women. As societies, under the influence of Christianity, move towards an appreciation of the individual and the dignity of women, polygamy disappears. It’s not compatible with Christianity.

Turkson (who seems to be in favor of divorce and remarriage) is famous for his “Africans are different” nonsense. Africans are human beings like all the rest of us and are called to live in Christ just as the rest of us are. They have to learn it, and that’s what missionaries and solid teachings are for.

As a Pakistani Muslim I once knew told me,

“It is true that my religion allows me to have up to four wives. But....(eye roll)....a fellow would have to be pretty much insane to actually try it.”

polygamy may drive them to oppose any change in the ban on divorced and remarried Catholics receiving the sacraments.

Isn't the ongoing institutionalized adultery of "divorced" and "remarried" "Catholics" enough to oppose any change in the ban on their receiving the sacraments?

I’ll bet there American men, right now, shopping for wife #2 and #3. I know that sounds crazy, but you know there are.

Polygamy is still accepted in Judaism, just rarely practiced. If you want the citation, I’ll find it.

Any man who wants to live with more than one wife in America is completely and irrevocable nuts. American women rarely sleep with men after marriage but make up for it in nag, nag, nag.

It’s pretty obvious to anyone using even what good sense God gave a mule, but there are those out there who’d argue against the connection, if they care at all.

If either had stopped sleeping with me it’d been over soon after. The first one ended, but it wasn’t about the sex in any way, shape or form. Nag? Sure, that’s what you all do, it’s “baked into the cake” as they say. I just laugh most of it off or shrug and do what is asked. Of course, I’m a VERY LARGE man, I suppose a pipsqueak might have a harder time of it, depending on his personality and demeanor. If I had toddlers or school age kids, I can see where an extra set of hands would be helpful.

Well, I exaggerate perhaps. But as much as I like and admire women, they are spoiled in this country (Thank God Almighty for our fine men who put up with us!) and any man who takes on one or more broads in this life is in for a world of trouble. Would you agree? (Despite your lovely wife.)
