Polygamy has far more basis in human tradition than fudgepacker marriage. You can’t open the Pandora’s box of the later without allowing the former.

Almost all of Africa, the Middle East and most Muslim countries elsewhere practice polygamy and have for centuries. This is news? Same sex marriage has no historical basis, whereas polygamy is as close as your Bible, as far as history is concerned. Abraham, David, Moses, Saul, Esua, Ezra, Solomon, Simeon, Gideon, Hosea and on and on.

FWIW, a great many American buildings indeed are built using wood frame construction, and they aren’t all that flammable if done right.

polygamy may drive them to oppose any change in the ban on divorced and remarried Catholics receiving the sacraments.

Isn't the ongoing institutionalized adultery of "divorced" and "remarried" "Catholics" enough to oppose any change in the ban on their receiving the sacraments?

And then there is always serial polygamy as practiced in Hollywood.

“... in July 2007, Cardinal John Onaiyekan of Abuja, Nigeria, said that on polygamy, “the Catholic Church is particularly firm and consistent, giving no room whatsoever for doubts and exceptions.”

Actually, Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Catholic Church made an exception in the 12th century but everyone has forgotten about that. I see nothing wrong with following that same practice today when necessary.
