Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"
Charisma News ^ | 9/5/2014 | Jennifer LeClaire

Posted on 09/11/2014 11:19:06 AM PDT by Jan_Sobieski

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

God created Mary sinless

Therefore, Mary needed the Savior

Hello!

If Mary was created sinless, she DIDN'T need a savior.

THe only people who need to be saved are those who have sinned and they need to be saved from their sins.

If they never sinned, but would qualify to stand in the presence of God and would not need a savior.

It's absolutely staggering what passes for reasoning amongst Catholics.

I wonder what's in that holy water.......

This thread is about Mary. Post one on Eucharistic Adoration, and you'll see how zealous Catholics are about Jesus!

No, we'd just find out how zealous Catholics are about eating flesh and drinking blood thinking that it gains them heaven.

And you think that because something is shabby on the outside, that it's worthless on the inside?

Or that if it's beautiful on the outside, that it valuable on the inside?

Matthew 23:25-28 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

James 2:1-13 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called?

If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

. Mary and the saints are, just like those on earth, put here by God to help us know Christ, to lead us to him. Mary being the most grace-filled human that ever lived, leads us to Jesus the most.

Mary is NOT the most grace filled person to ever have lived.

All born again believers are lavished with the EXACT same grace that Mary was.

Mary and Grace

The word grace used in this passage in Luke is used in one other place in the Bible and that is Ephesians 1 where Paul is us that with this same grace, God has blessed us (believers) in the Beloved. IOW, we all have access to that grace and it has been bestowed on us all.

http://biblehub.com/greek/5487.htm

Luke 1:28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”

Ephesians 1:4-6 In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

Greek word “grace”

charitoó: to make graceful, endow with grace

Original Word: χαριτόω

Part of Speech: Verb

Transliteration: charitoó

Phonetic Spelling: (khar-ee-to'-o)

Short Definition: I favor, bestow freely on

Definition: I favor, bestow freely on.

HELPS Word-studies

Cognate: 5487 xaritóō (from 5486 /xárisma, "grace," see there) – properly, highly-favored because receptive to God's grace. 5487 (xaritóō) is used twice in the NT (Lk 1:28 and Eph 1:6), both times of God extending Himself to freely bestow grace (favor).

Word Origin: from charis

Definition: to make graceful, endow with grace

NASB Translation: favored (1), freely bestowed (1).

Yes, just as important as His suffering and death ON the cross. There is nothing wrong with remembering both. I never said the empty cross wasn’t important. This was directed to a specific comment about why we still show Jesus on the cross. Because it was a significant moment. It does not take away the importance of Him rising from the dead.

Just my opinion on this, but I think the main reason the crucifix is displayed in a Roman Catholic church instead of an empty cross, is because they may believe Jesus died for our sins but they do not acknowledge that Jesus was raised for our justification as Romans 4:25 says:

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Most RCs I have talked to don't believe they have been justified by faith in Christ. His death on the cross only "opened the gates of heaven" so that we might make it to heaven one day if we do all the right works and merit it. An empty cross demonstrates faith that Jesus HAS been raised from the dead, is not still paying for our sins by hanging there, and, by His resurrection, we are justified. As Paul said:

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:a The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Cor. 5:16-21)

If you loved and respected Mary as much as Jesus did/does, you’d see the dishonor straight away. I don’t know what to say regarding the fact you can’t see it.

I didn't know Mary...I have no idea how much Jesus loved his mother...He never said...Mary certainly was blessed (not bles-sed) but you guys want us to hold her in higher esteem than the bible allows for...It's not going to happen and there's certainly no dishonor to be found there...

It is always helpful to know a little bit about the author who wrote a given article.    With that in mind, I thought it might be helpful to share some interesting information about the author of this article posted here with the other posters and readers on this thread.

The woman who wrote the article this thread is based on (Jennifer LeClaire) is a former Mormon, who now claims to be a prophet (just like Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormons claimed he was), and Jennifer herself now boldly claims to have received new visions and revelations from God for today which are not found in the Bible (just as Mormon founder Joseph Smith did).

To learn more about this woman, try entering the following search strings exactly as shown into Google, and reading some of the links that come back:

Also, it is quite instructive to do a "youtube" search for "jennifer leclaire", and listen to some of the bizarre assertions she spouts on various video clips posted there.

(By the way, one of the above "Google" searches brings back a link for an earlier Free Republic thread, posting an article by Jennifer LeClaire about another "prophet" like herself named "Bob Jones".)

Have fun checking these out, if you care to!

He is not in your local chapel; it was made with hands.

Idols occupy local chapels made with hands.

The text READS she was placed in JOHN's care; NOT the other way around!

Wow!

Exactly...It would be far more accurate to claim that John is the father of the Catholic church than to claim Mary is the mother of the Catholic church...

The only person to ever walk the face of this earth who didn't sin and wasn't God was Mary.

Some sort of evidence for that is required...I could say that I used to own the only Palomino that crossed the English Channel, doing the backstroke...I have just as much evidence for my claim as you do for yours...And I wouldn't expect any intelligent person to believe either one...

Elsie, the thread was posted to dishonor Mary. Every Catholic here knows that. Because you are not a Catholic and have no special love for Christ’s mother, you do not see the dishonor.

Why don't you ping the person who posted the thread if you want to accuse them of doing so to "dishonor Mary"? When I read it, it sounded more like it was posted to expose some elitist sounding words from your brand spanking new Pope (though I think for some the "honeymoon" is WAY over). It's the hyperbolic FRoman Catholic brigade who turned it into a Cath v Prot battle as they are prone to do whenever ANYONE dares mention the name "Mary". It's too bad y'all can't seem to comprehend that just because a Christian doesn't believe all the things you do about Mary - and isn't afraid to explain why they don't - there isn't dishonor nor disrespect behind it. In fact, for the Pope to say this about ALL Christians IS disrespectful of non-Catholic Christians and it dishonors Jesus Christ.

I was just picturing the Israelites, when Moses came down from Mt. Sinai and saw them worshiping the golden calf, and them yelling, "We aren't worshiping it we're venerating!" ;o)

Do you believe God provided His Special Presence to the "Ark of the Covenant", built by human hands, just like He said He would, as documented in the Bible here:

=============================================================

Exodus 25:1-22

Offerings for the Tabernacle

1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me an offering; from every man whose heart makes him willing you shall receive the offering for me. 3 And this is the offering which you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 blue and purple and scarlet stuff and fine twined linen, goats’ hair, 5 tanned rams’ skins, goatskins, acacia wood, 6 oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7 onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece. 8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. 9 According to all that I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it."

The Ark of the Covenant

10 "They shall make an ark of acacia wood; two cubits and a half shall be its length, a cubit and a half its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height. 11 And you shall overlay it with pure gold, within and without shall you overlay it, and you shall make upon it a molding of gold round about. 12 And you shall cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its four feet, two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. 13 You shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. 14 And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark by them. 15 The poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be taken from it. 16 And you shall put into the ark the testimony which I shall give you. 17 Then you shall make a mercy seat[a] of pure gold; two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth. 18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end; of one piece with the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends. 20 The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be. 21 And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark; and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you. 22 There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you of all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel."

If that is true, then God sinned when he lied in his word, and we all are without hope.

Mary sinned daily!

Nothing in God’s word says that he ever lived in any box.

Twist all you wish; that is the catholic way, but Yeshua has never once entered any “church” after his resurrection.

Nor will he ever.

So you don't believe God when He said,

"Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst"?

(It is usually a lot more prudent to believe God when He says something, but you are certainly free to not believe Him, if that's what you choose.)
