Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.
But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.
As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...
That’s like saying, “Don’t you need ANYONE else” — but what about all the people in your life, your spouse, your kids, friends..... don’t you in some way need them to know Christ?
Are you saying I need my spouse, kids, friends, etc... for Salvation? What have you been taught? Haven’t you read the Gospels?
Jesus told several of His deciples to leave their families and follow Him.
Luke 14:25-27
Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
Wow. I can not believe what is said on this thread. Jesus draws us to him. He alone.
Why do Catholics continuously need Mary to point the way? Why such difficulty and confusion they need to consult with Mary again and again for a map?

It most certainly is. It is so sad to see the deceit that so many people have fallen for. I pray that God is opening the eyes and hearts of Catholics who have been deceived by that evil organization.
You should hate anyone or anything that stands in the way of the Truth or Jesus (the Way, the Truth & the Life). But normally if your family members are Christians they help, not hinder your walk with Jesus. Remember Jesus said you are not supposed to divorce your wife (except for adultery) and you are supposed to cut out your eye, ear, etc., but only if they keep you from following Jesus. (Not after one occasion of sin!)

I have friends who left the catholic church after they were lead to the Lord..(outside the church by a Christian)...Raised in catholicism and knew all it was about very well.....but once the Lord brought them to Himself it wasn’t long before they saw the deceptions in the catholic church. It was more than just painful for them to see they had believed lies....it angered them as well that the church continues to mislead so many and keeps them from knowing Jesus.

He doesn’t now....which is why He has His servants trying to reach those within the church ‘who desire the truth’.... There are actually Christian missionaries attending catholic churches because they see it as a mission field....which it is.

Praise God they got out. I can only imagine how I would feel. I just hope and pray that there are those reading these threads that the Holy Spirit is opening their eyes.

Well, then, if Christ is the example of how to honor whats-her-name, then we should be calling her *Woman*, like He did.
I don't recall anywhere where he called her by her name, nor even called her *Mother*, or *Mom* nor even referred to her at all as HIS mother.

Mary sinned and needed a savior. She said so herself when she called God her *savior*.
