Fox News star jumps into 'gay' Christianity

The Fox News analyst who made headlines last December for saying she personally met Jesus is now entering the battle over homosexual relationships, suggesting U.S. Christians could support the concept.

“Could there be a future where most American Christians support same-sex relationships?” asks Kirsten Powers, a former atheist who went public with her conversion to Christianity last year.

“If so, it will be due to the emergence of conservative Christians who say orthodox believers can support life-long, monogamous gay relationships without undermining their commitment to biblical authority.”

In her column in USA Today, Powers mentions by name evangelical Matthew Vines, the homosexual author of the new book, “God and the Gay Christian,” as well as New Testament scholar James Brownson, who wrote the 2013 book “Bible, Gender, Sexuality.”

Powers says Brownson told her: “Male-male sex in the ancient world was episodic. It was mainly young boys with older men or male slaves and masters. It was not mutual. These were not relationships, they were not marriage and they were not meant to turn into marriage.”

Powers says the issue is not molding biblical teaching to satisfy a personal belief.

The scripture ‘cast not your pearls before swine’ comes to mind....there are times it is not going to change anything. A spiritually sensitive person will witness at the right time, however I feel no need to discuss something they have already made up their mind about, so I pray for people.

All true but I deprecate the word QUEER, as it USED to be a good English word for usage.
Now, it’s for male homosexuals. And I hate the Idea of such a good word HIJACKED by a small group of people.

I have no idea what you mean.

ANYTHING but heterosexuality is a sin, that includes:
— male homosexuals, you call QUEERS,
— female homosexuals, called lesbians,
— bisexuals..and
— non-sexuals.
Those are ALL sins, not just the ones you hate.

They are all queer to me, it is easier to spell.

Those are ALL sins, not just the ones you hate.

I did not say anything about hate.

where Jesus told the crowd that was about to stone an adulteress to death: Let you who is without sin cast the first stone

I have read it many times, the woman was not doing it to mock God, on the other hand all of this B.S that is going on now is for no other purpose.

I also can not throw any stones but I am not going to pray for anti Gods with their Trojan horses.

Hope you had a day of rest yesterday.

So "queer" is easier to spell. Well, I guess that sums it up.

I had a glorious Sunday, thank you, since I went to Mass. But, then I have a glorious day every day since I attend daily Mass. Life couldn't be better with THAT gift from God.

I hope yours was as glorious as mine.

I’m curious as to the reasoning behind including “non-sexuals” in your list of sins. I’m not trying to pick a fight, but I don’t understand why the lack of sexual desire and/or activity would be sinful.

I got it the first time. You’re saying only the sinless are going to heaven. Name them please.

You're close. Only those who have there sins covered by faith in Christ Jesus will go. And those who actively practice sin, as mentioned before, are not going because that is not saving faith.

Many believe that they can continue practicing sin and living in it and still go to heaven. That just isn't the case. Someone with faith doesn't like sin and doesn't want to practice it.

The good news is that anyone confessing practicing sin, repenting of it, and requesting cleansing from it by faith in Christ Jesus will receive it and be delivered from it.

It wasn’t my list of sins, it was yours in your post # 89

Of course it doesn’t, but it also tells us to pray for each other and forebear for the weaker among us.

I am not trying to argue with you. Am only suggesting that instead of condemning her it would be more useful to pray for her.

I’m curious as to your inclusion of “non-sexual” as a sin. How is neither feeling sexual desire nor acting upon said desire sinful?

Thanks in advance.

She's one of Fox News's house liberals and not any more representative of FNC than Pat Buchanan was of MSNBC when he still worked for them.

But she probably is representative of many Mainstream Protestants -- Congregationalists, etc. I don't know how other denominations come down on the issues, but somebody in the media being for gay marriage really isn't much of a story.

Also, to say that she "jumps into gay Christianity" give the wrong impression. Unless dating Anthony Weiner all those years ago really was that awful ...

Her Wiki page says, “She came to ‘view everyone as God’s child and that means everyone deserves grace and respect.’”

But not everything everyone DOES deserves grace and respect.

The absolute worst “house liberal” on Fox is humpty-dumpty Bob Beckel. His sole role on the program is take up for Obama. Makes no difference what his hero does or says, he agrees with him. He’s another hypocrite that calls himself a Christian and pro-life, but is a die-hard Obama dolt, the most anti-Christian and pro-abortion president in American history.
