Yesterday I asked some friends to pray for me over at facebook, because I was having some stomach troubles. Well this morning I think my troubles may be worse than I thought. Yesterday I woke up with severe cramps and bowel pains that lasted about 20 minutes until I had a movement. The pain went away, but I was sweating bullets and the whole experience was extremely painful.
Then about 45 minutes later it all happened again, but this time all that came out was bile. I again felt better afterwards, and then every 45 minutes through the day I had the same troubles. Needless to say I stopped eating and only drank a few fluids.
By evening the pain was subsiding and I thought that I would make it to work today with this whole incident being nothing more than something I ate, but alas it was not to be.
I woke up this morning about 4:30 with the same pain, but not nearly as bad as the first time yesterday morning. Like then I went to the restroom, but this time along with the bile was blood. I will not lie, I am a bit afraid. I will go see my Dr as soon as I can this morning.
Because some will ask, I still have my appendix, I had a Colonoscopy about 5 years ago, I had my prostate checked and I am on medication for a swollen prostate but it's under control. I'm not running a fever, although yesterday morning when this first came on I was a bit feverish every time I did have to go which was about every 45 min as I said. When I did go nothing but bile was the result. This morning is the first time I had blood.
There is no history of colon cancer in the family, so I'm sure it's nothing to serious, but as I said, I am a bit afraid. Other than my skeletal system, where I have back and nerve pain I suffer as an ongoing problem from a motorcycle wreck and a car accident which landed my wife in a wheelchair, I am pretty much a picture of health.
As anyone who knows me will tell you I never ever get sick. I am one of those freaks who gets over a 24 hour bug in an hour, and the flue that usually lasts others a week I am over in less than a day. You can count the days I have missed work in the last 20 years due to illness on one hand.
Well, again, I ask for your prayers and please keep my wife in them too, as I think this worries her more than it does me. I think I'll read some more of the book of Job. Just seems appropriate somehow.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. (Psalm 23)
I am praying for you, OneVike. May the Lord grant you a refreshing, restful sleep tonight. May He guide the doctor and give you the precise course you need to heal. May you have a speedy recovery and return to your life.
I would like to humbly thank each and everyone of you for praying for me these last two days. I know God was listening and that He answered your prayers for me. I am feeling better and the worst case scenarios are not even considered to be in the equation of my problems. Praise God.
It’s been a long day, but I have a lot of questions answered and I feel much less nervous about my situation.
From what was discovered, it looks more like I have an intestinal bug that has irritated things. I was given three antibiotics to rid the problem, but I also have an appointment with an gastroenterologist to get a barrage of tests to make sure there isn’t something they missed.
I still have some pain but nothing like yesterday, however I have yet to eat anything of substance other than some cream of chicken soup. So I guess the true test will be when I have a normal meal. I want to thank everyone for the advice which was given also. I will definitely look into many of the dietary suggestions and maybe alter my eating habits some and be more conscious of my age (57) by not taking for granted the life I have been given and the future I face.
I have faith that God has blessed me with a good Christian Dr whom I have complete confidence in and myriads of friends like all her at FreeRepublic who are willing to pray for me in my time of need.
God bless you all for lifting me up to Him for prayer in my time of need. If things change before or after I see the gastroenterologist I will share with an update. Again I want to thank you all for your prayers my FRiends.
I’m tired right now so it’s off to bed early tonight so I can get up to work in the morning. I’m salary and could probably milk this for all it’s worth, but that’s just not the way I was raised. Besides another day off after the long holiday weekend and then with this trouble the last two days, my wife is probably looking forward to a normal day herself. So regardless if I am 100% or not I will be at work tomorrow.

Praise God that you are better now!
Thanks, it’s much appreciated.
I posted an update of my situation just seconds after you posted your prayer to me.
Very good to hear that you are on the mend. Just be sure and keep up a good intake of fluids.
I know how scary it was for you, my having had a similar experience.
Thanks for the update... one minor thing, you might want to avoid “cream of...” soups for the time being until you have the all clear. Stick with a nice brothy chicken noodle soup. :-)
I’m glad you’re getting better. I’m keeping you in my prayers.
Thanks for the update. I’m glad you were able to get treatment for your symptoms, and that it wasn’t anything serious. Glad to hear you have an appointment with a gastroenterologist. Let us know how you make out.
Thank you for this good news update. 8D
Sounds like you’re on the road to recovery.
At least you know what was eating you.
Told yuh you’d be fine.
H20, tons of it and a cup of coffee in the morning...
try a swallow of Pepto Bismol. Keeps things a bit solid and Gas-x, to reduce the pressure...
When you feel up to it, hit that lil bugger with some fruits and you’ll be up to no good, in not time...
Father, bless and keep OneVike through this by the grace and truth of Jesus. Amen.
Great! Thank you for the update. Continued prayer here.
Such good news, OneVike! I would definitely make sure they check for Chron’s as many here have pointed out. My ex-wife has it, and it sounds very much like your symptoms. May God continue to bless you, and bring you back to 100 percent quickly!
Thanks for the update. Glad you are going to the specialist, though to check out for sure.
God bless.
I'll be praying for you and your wife, for strength, encouragement and grace to get through this knowing you have the Lord God of the universe on your side. Keep us posted and thanks for allowing us to share with you in your needs and joining together to petition our Lord with hopeful prayer knowing that HE is able to make all things work together for our good.
So glad to read this news! Will continue to hold you and your wife in my prayers.
