Ping!
Sorry. A divorced woman married to another man is living in a state of adultery. A mortal sin. And they cannot receive the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin.
I really don’t put any weight on this one. We don’t know what the Pope actually said to her—IF the phone call ever took place. And we don’t know what she told the Pope about her situation. The whole business is questionable. And as the Vatican points out, if they discussed anything, it is a private matter.
Too bad Jesus didn’t die for EVERY sin. But, I think he did!!
This pope seems a nice, humble man but is causing problems. He says things that lead some to believe the rules have changed, then falls back to claiming be stands by the teaching of the Church. You cannot have it both ways and it only increases the chasm between the Catechism and the practices of Western Catholics.
Do you believe that the Holy Eucharist is the precious Body and Blood of Jesus and Christ and that He is really, truly and substantially present in the Eucharist?
Are you saying that if someone was molesting kids it’s ok because Jesus washes away all sins?
Argentina is nothing but a swamp of confused Italians (the majority of the ruling and middle class are, like Pope Francis, of Italian descent). Their Spanish is non-standard - but they think they can give Spanish lessons to the world.
I hate to sound bigoted, but in my opinion, anything emanating from Argentina should be examined once, twice, thrice...and then probably rejected. The Pope aside, of course; I think he’s sincere and orthodox, but he’s got the chaotic Argentinian style, and I think that’s what a lot of people don’t understand.
Maybe - maybe not. Only Christ knows those things. But we should all remember that looking at a woman with lust is adultry. Just being angry is committing murder. This humbles us all.
If Nancy Pelosi can receive communion then this woman should.
She can't and neither can this woman.
If the person is truly sorry for their sin, then yes. It doesn’t mean he gets off without punishment.
One additional possibility — she is living chastely with her current “husband.” As brother and sister. In such a case it would be permissible to receive Holy Communion. But would be less prone to scandal at a different church where they don’t know her.
Yes, I understand that. But the sin must stop. Jesus said a divorced person who remarries is in adultery. Adultery is a sin. If she continues with this man, she has not repented of her sin and cannot receive Communion.
She wouldn't have to, because:
According to his version: Francisco told my wife . . . a divorced who goes (to Communion) is doing nothing wrong.
According to his version...which is a version of her version.... Only yhe woman, the pope, and the CIA know exactly what was said. And it is om for divorcees to receive Communion as long as they are not remarried.
How could they have gotten the impression that the Pope MEANT divorced and remarried can receive Communion? Who is responsible for the confusion?
.
I don’t recall nearly as much confusion around the words of the previous six popes in my lifetime.
.
Rome, we have a problem.
as usual, the press gets it wrong again.
In other words, "Do as the Church teaches, not what Francis does".
