God had to have a mother to be born into this world in order to redeem it.

Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk have all had Russian mobs take over provincial offices demanding a Crimean style vote to join Russia. This still will not give Putin his land route to Crimea, so more is yet to come. The Ukranian church will be under great pressure as will other Ukranian peoples and institutions.

Are we going to be told how great a leader Putin is? None of these latest provinces have Russian majorities although there is a strong minority of Russians in each of them.

So in what sense are you denying the divinity of Our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ?

The title “Mother of God” (an Englishing of the Greek Theotokos, which if you really want you can English as “Birthgiver of God” instead) is not really about Mary, but about Jesus. It is one of the legacies of the christological controversies which dealt with a lot of wrong-headed ideas about who Jesus is back during the first eight centuries after Our Lord’s earthly ministry.

Why is it that ignorant people are also rude? You don’t understand the prayer, don’t pray it. It’s not complicated.

Icon of the Mother of God of Kiev-Bratsk

The Kiev-Bratsk Icon of the Mother of God was at first in the church of Sts Boris and Gleb in the city of Vyshgorod (Kiev), where it miraculously appeared in the year 1654. In 1662, when Russia was at war with Poland (1659-1667), the city was dealt heavy losses by the Crimean Tatars fighting on the side of the Polish. The temple of the holy Passion-Bearers Boris and Gleb was destroyed and defiled. But the Providence of God preserved the holy wonderworking icon of the Mother of God, which was taken out of the church beforehand and set off along the Dniepr. The relics of the saints were hidden beneath a crypt.

The river carried the icon to the Podol section of Kiev, where it was joyfully taken up by the Orthodox and with due reverence transferred to the Bratsk (Brotherhood) monastery.

Our Lady, save the Ukrainian nation, destroy the seed of communism in Russia and bring those who work in the interest of the restoration of the Soviet Union to repentance.

Inn the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

I'd be glad to explain authentic Christianity to you on some other thread. If you don't want to pray, don't pray; if you want to teach someone how to pray, wait till they ask. Anyway, this is not the thread to volunteer with theological help; we are just fine as we are, thank you.

Remember at the wedding feast in Cana, Mary did ask Jesus to take care of a pressing issue. Nothing wrong with that.

SO we pray in a way that you and BipolarBob don’t approve.

And who are you, exactly, that we should care? We know what is in and what is and what is not in the Holy Scripture very well, without your help, thank you.
