I was leery about this mini-series from the first advertisement I saw. My worries have been well confirmed.
With apostate Joel Osteen advising, what could go wrong?
Picky, picky, picky. So a little flare, half the Bible deals with how your imagination interprets the words. Go worry about Obamacare instead...this is a great show, stop dissing it...if you don’t like it go watch American Idol like the other low IQ people.
Racially very PC... a very few but some blacks were in the bible.. but most blacks were brown..
The show is very PC in that way.. putting blacks where they weren’t is poetic license..
BUT; sad to say many blacks wouldn’t watch this series if there no blacks in it..
Many/most blacks are that racist.. but indeed some whites wouldn’t watch because there were JOOOOS in it..
Not a Palestinian to be found.. but there were a few Philistines..
Who pretty much believed what the so-called “Palestinians” believe today.. i.e. Moon-God..
Well done show... not history but entertainment..
and for the most part presented fairly well..
pretty amazing in today’s PC environment..
Rick Warren? Hello....
I have a question:
I am not a student of the bible. I had a very dear friend who was a student of the bible. He could quote book, verse and paragraph for any given situation or however that is expressed.
He claimed that there was a passage in the bible that stated that the black man would rule the world for 100 years.
Has anyone ever heard of that and, if so, is it true? If true then it appears that everyone else on the planet is making sure that it happens.
The bible according to who, you? Or the Protestants, the Methodists, the Catholics, the Baptists, the Lutherans, the Jehovah Witnesses, the Branch Davidians, etc, etc...........the list goes on.
I’ve watched a gazillion movies of books, stories, bible, etc., and ALWAYS Hollywood does not tell the story the same way as it was written.
So, it’s not just the Bible.
Why would they do it differently?
I will suggest that a lot of times it is because they have to fit what they want to film within a certain budget, and that means within prescribed technological capacity, etc.
I’m not all that concerned with ninja angels, since Balaam’s ass’s angel had a sword and so did David’s death angel.
The good news is that someone did the bible and mentioned Joshua, Uriah, Nebuchadnezzar, Azariah, Herod Antipas, etc.
They ARE telling the story.
I questioned some scenes too. I got my bible and was able to follow along. Found that the show was accurate. I teach adult Sunday School but am still learning all the time.
By following the Holy Bible as I watched the show I learned it is being portrayed as it is written in the scriptures.
On the whole, I find the series a tremendous positive, although leaving out Jacob and Esau an the twelve tribes had me laughing. The treatment of Jesus’s early ministry was superb, loved that scene of tempation in the desert, and the first Herod was disgustingly delightful...
The only thing we were told about Jesus's appearance was that he was not exceptionally good looking--he didn't have the obvious advantage of beauty.
Other than that, he should be imagined in the way that would enhance the faith of the believer.
