The Catholics that I know left because of the false doctrine of Rome.. I tried to stay after I was saved but the more I studied scripture the more I realized that Rome does not line up with it.. finally I had to go .

It is very easy to get an ‘annulment” from the church... Most of the people in the pews use or used birth control ...the church is full of gays..including a large part of their priests..

So those issues are non issues.. things like the mass, prayer to saints..a deified Mary,a non biblical priesthood and mass..those are marks of a man made church..not the church of Jesus Christ..so we leave

I believe your case is covered under “Church teachings.” The article is about other issues.

Wow! Aren’t you blessed to have found a congregation of perfect people! Amazing!

Me? I’m a sinner, big time. I’d rather spend my worship time with the flawed. It makes me feel welcome.

Nah, we don’t want folks who reject Christ’s divinity. Goodbye to them and good riddance..

Fortunately for you, your interpretation of Scripture is infallible, and you have no need of correction from any source, outside of the Bible, which was communicated directly to you by God.

I can’t figure out why you bother posting. You’re already saved, so why bother with us reprobates?

A lovely bigoted post! It’s very hard to believe you were once a Catholic. I’m a lapsed Catholic and still find your remarks repulsive.

Exactly my situation. As I've said before, when I first got saved and felt the need to start attending church again, I went BACK to the Catholic church since that was the church I was raised in. But the same thing happened to me. I saw the discrepancy between what was taught there and what is blatantly obvious from just a careful reading of Scripture that I had never read before.

I had no preconceived notions of what to expect out of Scripture. Well, except what the Catholic church taught me. But then I saw the conflict between what it taught and what Scripture said and that was enough for me.

As a Catholic, I could dispute what you write, but to no avail.

You believe what you believe and I what I believe.

We are both about 70 years so it won't be long and we will find out the real truth about God.

If you are right, pray for me, as I will do for you.

Didn’t Jesus hold a “mass” the night before he was crucified? If God became a man and stepped into our world, was the last supper considered “man-made’?

In other words, you left because the Church did not change to embrace your new found doctrines and dogmas. And because you established that "lining up with Scripture" as you saw and interpreted them was the effective test of fallibility and authority.

Faith is an act of the will and is linked with obedience. I can confidently say that you left the Church, it didn't leave you.

Obama is attacking the Catholic Church in America, no other church. You should stop to think about that. Satan knows the right address. He knows there is only one church he needs needs to worry about. He doesn’t need to worry about the people that left that church. He’s got them already.

You won’t know if you’re saved until your particular judgment, which is what both Scripture and the Church teach. The fact that you still haven’t learned that is proof that you left because of what St. Jerome called “ignorance”.

Amen Sister!

My wife was RC and her father was EO. They both became Evangelical Christians. In my wife's case it was just opening Scripture that triggered her desire to join a Bible based church and for my FIL it was coming to services with us and really hearing The Gospel.

I think it's clear that the RCC is not capable of real reform and they will always have a problem with members leaving. I'm thankful that some, such as yourself, find Bible based churches.

People aren't stupid, generally. When practice and belief contradict the Bible, Christ's flock go looking for the meat of truth which supports the Scriptures.

God willing, He leads them to it. Thank you, Jesus Christ.

I was only sixteen years old when I KNEW that the Catholic Church did not preach the gospel. On my own, I continued to attend Catholic Mass after my parents divorced but there had always been something I knew that didn't "sit right" with what I had been taught all my life up to then. Walking home from Mass one Sunday, I distinctly remember praying, "God, if you are real and if there is any such thing as truth, I want to know it.". Within a few months we were transferred back to the U.S. from where we were supposed to stay for another year and a half. We started going to a Southern Baptist church as a family since my grandparents went there. In a little Sunday school room, the teacher opened the Bible to John chapter ten and I read in verses 27-30 the following:

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

I and my Father are one.

A light went on in my soul - what I now know was the Holy Spirit illuminating God's truth to my heart - and I understood that Jesus was speaking to me telling me that he GAVE me eternal life from which I would never perish, never to be plucked from his hands and that I could KNOW I had eternal life through faith in Him. I realized then and there that what I had been told all my life by the Catholic Church about going to heaven was NOT the truth and I also KNEW that I had no desire to go back to it. I certainly had the freedom to if I wanted, but I did not want to. Everything since then that I have learned about the Catholic religion only reinforces that I made the right decision.

When anyone wants to know "why do Catholics leave", my answer is that some realize the truth of the Gospel - the real Gospel - and returning back to Catholicism is unthinkable. I have never regretted my decision and my walk with Christ only grows stronger the more I live for and learn of Him.

Don’t you mean they couldn’t handle the TRIE doctrine and dogma of the Catholic Church.

There are many other Catholic Churches — other than the Latin Rite — what you call Rome. Please educate yourself.
