The Christ of Mormonism (Real Mormonism)
Mormon Coffee (Mormonism Research Ministry) ^ | March 14, 2011 | Aaron Shafovaloff

Posted on 03/25/2011 9:19:12 AM PDT by Colofornian

Written by a local ex-Mormon Christian friend of mine: —

This is the Christ of Mormonism:

1. He lives as a humanoid god on a star near Kolob along with his father god, bound by the physical world; he does not transcend the material.

2. He is the brother of satan.

3. He had to earn his own salvation while he was on earth.

4. He offers his “grace” only to those who work hard enough.

5. He is not from everlasting to everlasting, but was created a finite time ago by his father god, who in turn was also created by his own father god, who in turn was created by his own father god, so on and so forth

6. He is not the greatest being possible.

7. He is finite.

8. His blood is not powerful enough to wipe away any sin.

9. He aided his father in creating earth by organizing already existing matter; he is not capable of creating things out of nothing.

10. He must submit to a moral law that existed before he did.

11. You can one day become just like him.

This is the Christ of the Bible:

1. He is a spirit being that transcends space and time.

2. He is the brother of no creature; He is God, from everlasting to everlasting. No one can claim kinship with Him except those He purchased for Himself on the cross. And He is not the same type of creature they are. He is not a creature, He is God.

3. Jesus is the Author of Salvation; to say that He needed to earn His salvation is absurdity.

4. He offers His sovereign grace to whomever He sovereignly chooses; we are all tainted by sin and vile in His holy eyes. Therefore, no one is more worthy than any other human being. Thus, His grace that He offers is given unconditionally. His grace is true grace, a beautiful gift.

5. He is from everlasting to everlasting. He was never created, and Has been in relationship with the Father and the Holy Spirit forever.

6. He is the greatest being possible, the Most High God. There is no one like Him and there is no one who will ever be anything like Him.

7. He is infinite, both in essence and in His divine perfections.

8. His blood is powerful enough to wipe away any sin, regardless of heinousness and duration. The only sin that cannot be forgive is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost; and this is not because the blood of Christ is not powerful enough to wash it away, but because God has so sovereignly decreed that all persons who blaspheme the Holy Ghost should not receive forgiveness.

9. He created everything that exists out of nothing by the mere word of His mouth.

10. There is no external law that He submits to; He is the Author and the Source of the Law.

11. No one can ever come near to obtaining the glory and excellency of Christ.

You keep making these asinine claims about WHAT it is we’re supposedly doing, but you have no comments about mormonism’s attacks on Christianity?

I posted many that you skipped right on over, color me surprised or should I say gobsmacked!

Get a new schtick, we’ve been through this before with others. Truth and facts have merit around here, baseless and nebulous claims and accusations have none.

Not surprising for a noob apologist or a Church of Oprah christian.

I don’t need one because my God doesn’t require one to enter His Temple.

But a “Mormon” with a Hail Mary tag line...

I mean come on...

LOL...

Next will be a picture of Joe Smith in a Pontif’s Mitre...

Well, it IS an interesting idea... I just wanted to see if I could pull it off. I think theology is interesting, but I don’t worry about it too much. We’ll all find out soon enough whether we made the correct choice.

"You have to have a Temple Recommend. I got one."

Why? Nothing Biblical occurs in them. In fact, even the BoM contradicts the need for the temples.

“Those Saints who neglect [temple work] in behalf of their deceased relatives, do it at the peril of their own salvation.”

A key function of temples is to perform ordinance work for our deceased ancestors. When we think of temple ordinances and the necessity to do them perfectly, without error...“… For their salvation is NECESSARY AND ESSENTIAL TO OUR SALVATION...they without us cannot be made perfect—NEITHER CAN WE WITHOUT OUR DEAD BE MADE PERFECT” (D&C 128:5, 15;...).

So, what's in store for those who don't get into a temple, to perform these "sacred ordinances"? What becomes of them? Afterall, D&C is quite clear on the matter. they cannot be made "perfect" which equates to the purported "celestial kingdom".

Are ALL of your ancestors accounted for? Have they ALL had the "ordinances" done for them?

I doubt it, which places any mormon's salvation in jeopardy according to D&C.

But here's another example of the contradictions within Mormonism. A contradiction between what JS supposedly received as revelation and the the BoM. [“The most correct book on earth.©"] Baptism for the dead, which, according to Mosiah, "...is mockery before God...".

For behold that all little children are alive in Christ, and also all they that are without the law. For the power of redemption cometh on all them that have no law; wherefore, he that is not condemned, or he that is under no condemnation, cannot repent; and unto such baptism availeth nothing-- But it is mockery before God, denying the mercies of Christ, and the power of his Holy Spirit, and putting trust in dead works. (Moroni 8:22-23)

Wherefore, he has given a law; and where there is no law given there is no punishment; and where there is no punishment there is no condemnation; and where there is no condemnation the mercies of the Holy One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement; for they are delivered by the power of him. For the atonement satisfieth the demands of his justice upon all those who have not the law given to them, that they are delivered from that awful monster, death and hell, and the devil, and the lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment; and they are restored to that God who gave them breath, which is the Holy One of Israel. (2 Nephi 9:25-26)

And these are those who have part in the first resurrection; and these are they that have died before Christ came, in their ignorance, not having salvation declared unto them. And thus the Lord bringeth about the restoration of these; and they have a part in the first resurrection, or have eternal life, being redeemed by the Lord. And little children also have eternal life. But behold, and fear, and tremble before God, for ye ought to tremble; ....(Mosiah 15:24-27)

Masonic rituals yes, the work of God, no.

Maybe you know how many times the "sacred" ceremony has changed?

If LdS is "restored" christianity, why is there absolutely NO record of the temple ceremonies currently being performed in mormon temples found in ancient text from the Holy Land? Afterall, we keep getting told that mormonism is 1st century Christianity.

Mormon Apostle Orson Pratt - "We have also proved that both God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ inherit their wives in eternity as well as in time." The Seer, p. 172 (1853)

IF so, where and when did god and jesus take out their endowments? Where and when did they get sealed to all of their wives so that they could become exalted beings? Afterall, temple marriages are required for exaltation.

Why are there no records of such things occurring?

Absolutely, you took the words right out of my mouth. I’m a Christian, Methodist to be exact, and I know I am welcome in any Christian Church...Heck, I’ve even been to synagogue for Bar and Bat Mitzvas!

When Jesus said “it is finished”, the curtain was torn from the top to the bottom - no more temples, no more secrets, no more ceremonies.........total and absolute open worship of the Lord God Almighty. Him and me....no one else, no secret, no temple ceremonies to accomplish this.......I am free in Christ.
My Jesus is sufficient, by the Blood of the Lamb, I am Saved and I am free.

I find it very strange that you would bear a mormon "testimony" while your tagline is a "Hail Mary" of Catholic origin.

Care to explain?

Exactly! God doesn't "discriminate" based on an ability to follow legalistic and monetary demands.

"I am free in Christ. My Jesus is sufficient, by the Blood of the Lamb, I am Saved and I am free."

Amen sister!

I am free

THAT IS THREE MINUTES OF HATE!...MULTIPLIED 26,000 TIMES PER DAY.

Not really; as those young folks have been lied to; and taught doctrines of demons for most of their lives.

Yes REALLY...as the foundation of the "doctrines of demons they have been taught" is couched in terms of hate for Christianity by leader after leader, prophet after prophet, from Joseph Smith on down.

There is no divorcing doctrine of hate from the act of hate.

“Well, these evil spirits are ready to prompt you. Do they prompt us? Yes, and I could put my hands on a dozen of them while I have been on this stand; they are here on the stand; Could we do without the devils? No, we could not get along without them. They are here, and they suggest this, that, and the other.”

If Joseph Smith were alive today, what would he do for a living?

Would he still be a religious huckster?

Would he run internet scams?

Would he send e-mails as a mock Nigerian “prince”?

Or would he be a more eleveated but still-dishonest Wall Street type?
