Powerful story of what happens when a priest starts reading the Bible and lets it work in his heart, instead of trying to twist and ignore it.

These fake stories are pretty funny. They always contain plenty of details that reveal the fabrication.

Among many other false notes, I find it amusing that a supposed former Dominican would describe the Dominicans as a monastic order when the entire point of the Dominicans in the first place is that they are not monastics.

“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:4). Amen.

Powerful story of what happens when a priest starts reading the Bible ...
All Catholic priests do read the Bible, every day at Mass (and on their own as well).

I stopped saying the Breviary (the Roman Catholic Church's official prayer for clergy) and the Rosary and began to pray using parts of the Bible itself.

Ever opened a breviary, TQC? (Go to a Catholic or well-stocked Christian bookstore. It's under the title "Christian Prayer" or "Liturgy of the Hours".)

It's about 90% Scripture. The two major hours, Lauds and Vespers, have 2 psalms, a canticle, a reading, a Gospel canticle, and the Lord's prayer -- all taken verbatim from Scripture. The only non-Biblical parts are a hymn, some intercessory petitions, and a brief closing prayer.

But I guess someone who thinks the Dominicans are monks probably doesn't know that the Breviary is full of Scripture either.

For example, here's Lauds for today. Do you see any Scripture there ... because I sure do.

Fiction. For every story like this I can show you a hundred true testimonies of those who swam the Tiber and came home.

Titus, with deep gratitude I thank you for posting this Priests testimony. It is one thing to study and understand the issues between catholics and non-catholics, but to see in a mans own words his story, and transformation, remarkably enhances the things taught and learned...further one can see these very things playing out on the threads as both sides of the issues are debated. Amazingly so!

Everything I have been learning on these threads strikingly played out in this man's very life. As I read thru this his comments and scripture references hit every note of what I've learned. Again ...remarkable how God works with us and brings it all together. I am in awe of Him.

Again, thank you Titus...for the direction He gave you to post this story. It has blessed me greatly......CW

BTW, from the Daily Mass Readings, I think you know better than to say Catholics don’t read the Bible.

What hogwash!

A powerful story of what happens when a priest starts reading the Bible like a protestant and lets Satan work in his heart to twist and ignore The Word. Very sad that men let Satan lead them astray.

quite long winded,eh ?

usual scatology directed at the Church instituted by Christ WHILE HE was on earth, not given to a man via revelations.

I always enjoy reading about how Sacred Scripture was denied them or OPEN to a personal interpretation ,and aren’t all other manmade religions 100% guilty of this in regard to the Body and Blood of Christ ? wasn’t a parable and make note that Christ did NOT call back all that walked away.....how do YOU have enternal life ?

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+6&version=KJV

read the entire entry—”they” walked NO MORE WITH HIM and no where is it written that Christ called them back for a further explanation .

Think many should understand and realize WHO they’re arguing with.

The first and most obvious clue to the confused thinking of this ex priest is that he says Catholics “pray” to the saints and the Blessed Virgin. We do NOT! We ask for their intercession with Jesus. Why else would the Hail Mary (included fifty-three times in the rosary) always end with, “Holy Mary, Mother of God, PRAY for us now and at the hour of our death.”?

"Powerful story of what happens when a priest starts reading the Bible..."

Perhaps you should investigate the curriculum of a Catholic seminary before making such an ignorant statement. Remember that unlike so many Protestant denominations one cannot become a preacher or pastor on line or by correspondence course.

I think every Catholic should know the following:

Richard Bennett REALLY was a Catholic priest.

I can not vouch for his story in toto - and I do not believe him to be an honest man - but there can be no doubt that he was a Catholic priest. Catholic Answers has admitted as much for YEARS. I am sure they checked him out to check his claims. If there was a hint that his whole story was a fraud, they would have said so.

Have there been frauds before? Yes. Alberto Rivera is the most obvious one. Bennett, however, really was a priest. Again, I am not saying he is not wrong. I am not saying he is completely honest. I believe he is both wrong and dishonest. I also believe that he was indeed a priest.

Dude says he was heavy into the charismatic movement. That was his first mistake. Faith wasn’t enough - he wanted super powers. The emptiness he felt inside of him was that he was not adored enough for being so special - he had to just stick to worshipping God. Now he can be the star of his own little cult of self-pity.
