WASHINGTON Mitt Romney and his strategists expected his Mormon faith to fade as an issue for fundamentalist Christians during his first presidential campaign. This time around, should he choose to run again, they have doubts.
...But even as the national Republican establishment warms to Romney as never before, the former candidate and his closest aides now believe a group of voters will always be off-limits because of his religion.

In Iowa, three-fifths of caucus-goers considered themselves born-again or evangelical Christian, according to a survey, taken for a media consortium as voters entered the caucuses.

More than one-third of caucus-goers said a candidates religion matters a great deal, and Huckabee won more than 56 percent of their votes.

Religious scholars have long debated the extent to which Mormonism is compatible with traditional Christian teachings...
The question is whether a particular church-going Christian is willing to set those differences aside as irrelevant to holding the office of president, or take them quite seriously as heretical and cultish, said James F. Gimpel, a University of Maryland political scientist who informally advised George W. Bushs 2004 reelection campaign. There are a great many evangelical Christians who would have a hard time justifying a vote for Romney under any circumstances.

...In his best-selling book No Apology, published this spring, Romney mentioned his Mormon roots only in passing, and the two page section on Belief and Purpose strives for a common language that is secular and civic rather than theological.

I think for most Americans theyre not terribly concerned about someones religious beliefs, unless of course it relates to their love of the country or something like that, Romney said in the interview...

Once again you ignore the rules and make it personal. Apparently you have a special dispensation in that regard.
and you are now the net nanny here now
I am answering replies to me. What are you doing?
Not to mention that you can be found quoting rules and pinging the Religion Moderator to someone else on another thread. There's a word for that ...
Sorry. (I didn't want you to think that we were overlooking our advocacy): Tibet Is No Shangri-La And the Dalai Lama is not what you think (from a foreign policy publication by the same name -- just posted on FR!)
FReepers, feel free to post away!
(Well,I'd hope that your public personal beliefs were, after all, personal...well, at least you might be of the Buddhist variety that believes in personal god(s)...vs. the millions who don't.)
One of the most liberal publications around is your source? It is strange that none of the Tibetan-born lamas I have met ever have any complaints about the DL or the former, now long-dead, government in Lhasa. Could be because Tibetans in Khams and Amdo basically ignored and laughed at efforts to tax them.
I see you're still ignoring the "don't make it personal" rule at your pleasure.
Well,I'd hope that your public personal beliefs were, after all, personal
I didn't bring up my Buddhist views you did.
That right, it is the mod’s job to manage things here, not yours. Oh, and there is probably a word for that too.
If I were really a "net nanny" I would point out your inability to use capital letters, no punctuation, lousy spelling and lower-than-grade-school-level grammar. lol
Polytheist of a feather...
You’re the only person in Tibet?
You'll notice it when your cursor make a little arrow shape...
I truly pray for the bipolar anti’s
A polytheistic Tibetan Buddhist from Colorado who called another poster a kook up thread is complaining that folks are making things personal (though they aren't really)
There is the makings of a good bar joke in there...
T-eye I am curious, from what I know of Buddhism they are supposed to be one with the universe and always aware of things around them. So how come you did not realize you were on the religion forum...
May want to delay that Zen archery demonstration if you have one planned...
Don't say things like that; it just makes you sound stupid. In fact, don't talk at all. It just makes you sound stupid.

Too late...
(That's funny. I could have sworn that "TigersEye" pops up every time you enter a post on a thread. And that if someone even accidentally clicked on your name...a page pops up...and that if anybody even accidentally read a few lines on that page...Buddhism fills their eyes...but other than that, perhaps you should bring up a complaint somewhere that somebody is impersonating you on your home page, initiating discussion about your personal beliefs)
I'm telling you; you're on a roll! LOL
