"In an unprecedented find, a group of Egyptian researchers and archeologists has discovered a cache of coins from the time of the Pharaohs. Its importance lies in the fact that it provides decisive scientific evidence disproving the claim by some historians that the ancient Egyptians were unfamiliar with coins and conducted their trade through barter.
"The researchers discovered the coins when they sifted through thousands of small archeological artifacts stored in [the vaults of] the Museum of Egypt. [Initially] they took them for charms, but a thorough examination revealed that the coins bore the year in which they were minted and their value, or effigies of the pharaohs [who ruled] at the time of their minting. Some of the coins are from the time when Joseph lived in Egypt, and bear his name and portrait.
"There used to be a misconception that trade [in Ancient Egypt] was conducted through barter, and that Egyptian wheat, for example, was traded for other goods. But surprisingly, Koranic verses indicate clearly that coins were used in Egypt in the time of Joseph.

Koranic verses in ancient Egypt...Mohammed wasn’t born until 570.
Their scholarly research seems a bit light.
Ping.
I believe that the reference is from within the koran, in an historical sense.
That would include the Torah, the Jewish histories, etc., and the New Testament. They also had some materials from an Arabic religious reformer to work into the mix.
The result was "The Koran", a document handed down intact by God through an Archangel.
Mohammad didn't just write the thing ~ he worked with documents he said he found in/on the floor of a cave.
Oh that is so cool!
I used to hate History as a 18 yr old college student. Now I think I am in love with it... :)
Funny what age brings to one’s point of view isn’t it?
That's a laugh! - The Bible proves that money was used in Egypt at the time of Joseph. - It clearly states that Joseph had his brother's money put back in their sacks.
The Koran can prove nothing!
Many Biblical stories are similar to those in Koran, because the latter absorbed the Jewish and Christian holy books and tweaked them here and there, and added the story about the ultimate prophet, Mohammad. For current Egyptian, then, the reference is Koran.
You mean handed up by Satan!
"Mohammad didn't just write the thing..."
No, he couldn't, he was illiterate
"he worked with documents he said he found in/on the floor of a cave."
Which was the completed koran, that had been written for him by Jewish sages, who made a fool of him, since he couldn't even read the document he had paid them to prepare.
The Biblical story of Joseph and his brothers speaks of “money” but that doesn’t necessarily mean coins. Lumps of silver could be used—they would just need to be weighed in each transaction. Archaeological evidence indicates that the first coins were minted around 600 B.C.
On the other hand, the story of Joseph in Genesis does mention coins... and it IS old enough to bear some weight (be used as a source).
The koran has absolutely nothing to do with God nor any of his Angels.
You'll have to head due South to find the entity responsible for that filthy book.
>You’ll have to head due South to find the entity responsible for that filthy book.
Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez? Mexico? Brazil? WHICH down south?
;)
“Found” in a building after being there years and years.
“Found” to be coins after years and years of being labeled trinkets and charms.
Hah!
A bit coarse, but I think you described the 'koranic' editorial process pretty well...
Independent verification of the existence of Joseph is very interesting.
Do some analytical reading. I gave you the sources used to prepare the Koran, so how did God deliver it through an Archangel? Hunh?
Beause the Committee that put it together said "Hey, yeah, God did it all, now buy this book".
“The Koran can prove nothing!”
It proves that Islam is a religion of murder.
I wonder why feminists don’t get worked up over the stuff in there about the blatant double standards. Women are more harshly punished, stuff like that.
