Traffic on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is temporarily suspended late Monday morning as the Dali — a cargo ship that collided with Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, leading to its collapse — makes its journey to port in Norfolk, Virginia. The Maryland Transport Authority (MDTA) said that traffic is temporarily paused on the Bay Bridge, as of 11 a.m. In an earlier statement, the Maryland Transport Authority (MDTA) said that “out of an abundance of caution,” it would be holding traffic on the Bay Bridge on Monday between 11 a.m. and noon as the marine vessel Dali passes beneath. The...

Wes Moore tried to stamp out speculation Wednesday that he could take over for President Biden as the party’s presidential nominee if the incumbent is unable to continue his campaign. “I am full-throated in my support of President Biden,” Moore told “Fox and Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade, who had said that “people are floating your name as a possible President Biden replacement should the wheels come off come the August convention.” “When I was first inaugurated,” the governor went on, “we were 43rd in unemployment, now we have amongst the lowest unemployment rates in the entire country....

Baltimore Police confirmed Sunday that the possible chemical agent, released in front of the event’s main music stage near North Avenue and Charles Street, was not issued by police. Police said officers working the event were informed of the incident around 8:37 p.m. A spokesperson for Baltimore Police said the department has not confirmed the type of chemical agent that was released but that it could have been mace, hair spray or “another agent.” Around...

TOWSON, Md. (WBFF) — Baltimore County authorities released a convicted sex offender in the United States illegally despite a request from the federal government to keep him in custody, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security says. 25-year-old Raul Calderon-Interiano was convicted of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault on April 10, 2024 in Baltimore County Circuit Court. Calderon-Interiano was sentenced to six years in prison, but a Baltimore County judge suspended all of his prison time, court records show. Despite federal immigration officials filing a "detainer" for the county to keep him in custody, the Baltimore County Detention Center released...

Officials in Baltimore County, Maryland, helped a convicted illegal alien sex offender evade deportation for weeks by suspending his prison sentence and setting him loose into the community, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials say. Raul Calderon-Interiano, a 25-year-old Guatemalan national, first arrived at the United States-Mexico border near Laredo, Texas, as an unaccompanied alien child (UAC) in June 2014. Calderon-Interiano was subsequently given a Notice to Appear (NTA) in federal immigration court at a later date.

flew into Wilmington, Del., on Sunday night, where his 54-year-old son’s felony gun trial begins Monday, and will spend the whole day there with no official duties. Joe Biden’s looming presence in the strange small city leaves nobody in any doubt of the message he is sending to Delaware special counsel David Weiss, the prosecutors, the judge, and the jury pool being chosen Monday: You mess with my son, you mess with me. It’s all very subtle, in a flagrant way, much like Joe’s impromptu visit to Hallie Biden, the widow of Beau and former lover of Hunter, just nine...

Governor Wes Moore (D-MD) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that it was “deeply offensive” to claim former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict in the New York business document trial will help him with black voters. Host George Stephanopoulos said, “There’s a debate going on in circles about how to take on the former president, how central to make the fact that he is now a convicted felon. Where do you stand on that?”

Republican Senate candidate Larry Hogan is warning Republicans in Washington, D.C., that he won't be a reliable vote if Maryland chooses to send him to the Capitol. In a new TV ad aired Tuesday, the former Maryland governor stressed his bipartisan bona fides. "In the Senate, Republicans can't count on my vote. But then again, neither can Democrats," he said. "If they want my vote, they will have to do what is right for Maryland, not one political party," Hogan continued in the video, first reported by Punchbowl News. "That's exactly what I did as your governor, and exactly the...

The years-long saga of former Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby's downfall and criminal processing may finally be at a close. This week, she went to court to learn her fate after multiple convictions for fraud and perjury. The prosecution had been seeking a two-year prison sentence, while Mosby's attorneys had pleaded for probation. As so often happens in these cases, the judge decided to split the baby and handed down a sentence of one year of home detention followed by three years of supervised release. She was also ordered to forfeit her condominium in Florida that she and her husband...

Democratic Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks took aim Wednesday at her Republican opponent, former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, over his position on abortion. Alsobrooks spoke at an abortion rights rally, where she criticized Hogan's statements that abortion should be legal up to 26 weeks of pregnancy, the standard set by the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade. That decision was overturned in 2022, and now states can make their own laws regulating abortion, which has galvanized Democrats nationwide, who are campaigning to protect abortion access as Republicans seek to limit or ban the procedure. "I don't believe that...

Did terrorists just scout out a US Marine base? Amazingly, Americans have no idea one way or the other — despite a troubling incident this month suggesting that’s exactly what happened. In fact, it took nearly two weeks for top brass at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia just to alert its own rank-and-file about an attempt by two Jordanians to drive their box truck onto the base before being blocked by guards. That’s outrageous enough, yet the story still remains far from clear. Indeed, a mountain of questions need answers.

“I am excited to launch Democrats for Hogan and have my good friend and former Democratic State Senator Bobby Zirkin on our team,” Hogan wrote in a post on X, attaching a video of Zirkin expressing his support for Hogan and calling on Democrats to do the same.

House Democrats are probing President Trump’s request for $1 billion in campaign cash from major oil companies. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) penned a letter to CEOs of eight energy companies and an oil lobbying group that reportedly attended a dinner at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort with the former president last month. Outlets, including The Hill, reported that at the dinner, Trump asked the industry to raise $1 billion to support his presidential campaign. The Washington Post, which shared the story first, reported that getting him the funds would be a “deal,” because of all the money the industry would save in...

Juan Dominguez, a West Point graduate and Gulf War veteran, is unhappy about the VoteVets political action committee’s decision to endorse former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn. Unlike Dominguez and at least two other candidates in the crowded Democratic primary race for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District, Dunn is not a military veteran. VoteVets describes itself as a progressive political action committee that “endorses veterans and national security professionals” who champion “everyday issues that affect the lives of those who served, their families, and the country.” In a phone interview with Blaze Media, Dominguez shared his frustrations with VoteVets’ endorsement...
