Between songs, the pugnacious Hynde, in a classic black T-shirt and jeans, bantered and battled with the crowd. She dedicated "You Know Who Your Friends Are" to "all you junkies and f--," gave a shout-out to the late Joe Strummer, opined that she hopes the United States loses if it goes to war with Iraq ("Bring it on! Give us what we deserve!"), and introduced the song "Fools Must Die" with the self-deprecating quip, "I'll show you how it's done."

9 paragraphs into her review of the Pretenders show, Neva writes about Chrissie Hynde's (Pretenders lead singer) comments. I first heard about this on Curtis and Kuby on WABC- I couldn't believe my ears.
The way they told it, Chrissie stopped singing in the middle of a song, started a tirade that went along these lines:
"Has the war started yet? If so, I hope we get bombed. I hope the Muslims beat the hell out of us. I hope they destroy us because we deserve to lose..." There was more... Nary a peep from the media on this. The article above was gushing with praise of her whole show. How disgusting. I hope Savage picks up on this tonight.

I forgot to add -the crowd was hugely anti-war... Even THEY had the moral decency to boo Hynde while she made those idiotic comments.

Rush needs to drop her tune from the beginning of his show (at least I thought that was the Pretenders). What a vile display.

What could these people be thinking? Seriously, I would NEVER even dream of these things if Clinton sent our men to war.
Is is just politics? I know the Democratic Party is a religion to them, but what has Bush really done that is so horrible to make them hate him so much?

I couldn't believe he hadn't heard about it... Curtus Sliwa (WABC morning drive) played that song (Ohio?) and then started ripping into Hynde. He mentioned that it was Rush's intro song, and expected Rush to hammer her. I listened to nearly the whole show, and nothing. I also checked out part of Sean's and didn't hear a thing... Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
Kuby's (Curtis' commie/liberal sidekick) excuse was that Hynde had a chemical imbalance - either she was on drugs, or was dellusional because she wasn't.

He uses a small portion of her song under fair use, and it pisses her off. As I understand it, she doesn't get a dime.

Rush went over all this a few years ago.
According to the music industry and law, any radio station can play any part of any song, for any reason, at any time, as long as the playing of it is not directly part of revenue generation.
Hind can't do anything about it.
