Good morning Tonk. All Canteen threads are good one. Wish I had an idea for you but I don't.

A funny thing happened to [me] yesterday at Camp Bondsteel (Bosnia):

A French Army officer walked up to me in the PX, and told me he thought we (Americans) were a bunch of cowboys and were going to provoke a war. He said if such a thing happens, we wouldn't be able to count on the support of France. I told him that it didn't surprise me. Since we had come to France's rescue in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and the Cold War, their ingratitude and jealousy was due to surface at some point in the near future anyway. That is why, I said softly, France is a third-rate military power with a socialist economy and a bunch of faggots for soldiers. I additionally told him that America, being a nation of deeds and action, not words, would do whatever it had to do, and France's support was only for show anyway. Just like in ALL NATO exercises, the US would shoulder 85% of the burden, as evidenced by the fact that the French officer was shopping in the American PX, and not the other way around.

He began to get belligerent at that point, and I told him if he would like to, I would meet him outside in front of the Burger King and beat his ass in front of the entire Multinational Brigade East, thus demonstrating that even the smallest American had more fight in him than the average Frenchman.

He called me a barbarian cowboy and walked away in a huff. With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Good morning from VA Beach!

Things are going good here. Hubby had the day from hell yesterday, helping to get the boat out of drydock. Got to work around 7am and didn't get home till right around 11pm. Today he rides topside while the boat makes its way to port. Left the house this morning dressed for a blizzard. *L*

Thanks for making this a topic Tonk. My husband was out to sea this time last year, and it's great to have him home this year. Even with that, we still need to consider those who will be far from home during the holidays.

Have a great day everyone!

A funny thing happened to [me] yesterday at Camp Bondsteel (Bosnia)...

There is a thread on this story underway, mostly French bashing.

I hear tell it's an urban myth but it's a good one!

Good morning and God bless all our troops, veterans, allies and military families!

I have a joke lined up but am trying to figure out how to clean it up for this post.

Have a great day, evening, night, etc.

already paid for everyone...
(He says you wouldn't have been
able to afford it anyway...
it cost Him everything He had. But
you do need to accept the ticket!!

far-out drink He calls "Living Water,"
followed by a supper that promises to be out of this world!

Party being given by His Kids (that's us!!)!
Hope to see you there!

Today's FEEBLE attempt at humor:

A blonde calls the Delta Airlines and asks, "can you tell me how long
it'll take to fly from San Francisco to New York city"?

The agent replies, Just a minute . . .

"Thank you" the blonde says, and hangs up.
