Silent and deadly: Australia's rage

Posted on 10/14/2002 8:21:58 PM PDT by Dundee

We Aussies are, at times, a strange lot.

In our happier times, the ethos of "work hard, play hard" almost becomes the national motto. The 2000 Sydney Olympics is a prime example. For a country of 19 million hosting the Olympics is no easy task. But tens of thousands worked tirelessly to make the games the best ever. The world saw us party, saw us enjoy the fruits of so much hard work. Likewise, many Aussies in Bali were there to enjoy the fruits of their hard work, sporting or otherwise. When we party, we party hard and loud.

But now, in our time of national mourning, the vast majority of Australians are silent.

Why?

The shrill voices of the left, the appeasers, the anti westerners are screaming that this was all our fault. Australia has joined America in its fight, a fight that they believe we should never have joined. This is what we deserved. We asked for it.

But the majority of Australians are silent. They are silent with rage and single minded focus. We do not yell and scream and call upon God to rain down vengence. We quietly roll up our sleaves and get to work. Our work now is to destroy those who would destroy us.

No flag waving, no rallies. Just silent rage and quiet action. Those who would destroy us will not hear the massive wave of rage they have unleashed. Our actions will speak for us.

Silent and deadly.

My sympathies to your nation who has always been there at America's side (moreso than Britain if you want my opinion).

Come help us squash the Islamic hordes who wish to put us under their tyrannical thumb. Pay no attention to the peaceniks. We will save their asses as we always have and they will forget in the morning every sacrifice we make in this war and bleat their cowardly bleat.

We, however, will triumph. We have the nukes. We will not be denied.

Guess again pal, they never got even a fraction of our guns.

Check your facts BEFORE shooting off at the mouth.

I had a conversation with an aged Japanese gentlemen not many years ago. He was a military historian who told me that the Imperial Army held illusions of separating and isolating Australia from their American allies in the opening months of the Pacific War.

The dogged determination of the Aussies in the worthless jungles of New Guinea made them think refocusing their attention from moving south to moving east (toward Midway) would be a more productive strategy.

May your western hating leftists and ours be given their own home in some vacant Solomon Island when this thing is over and Al Quaida is finally vanquished.

Thanks for the heart-felt post, Dundee.

Look forward to your partnership in the fight against evil. The Aussies are indeed a tough lot, and always a reliable friend of the U.S.. Not many know this, but the Australians even fought with the U.S. in Vietnam.

Many sympathies for your loss. Sorry about the snide remarks posted above. Some Freepers have no concept of graciousness or timing.

War has been carried to us, now we must return it.
Those who urge us to stay our hand, are the reason
these attacks continue to build. The intentioned goodwill
of some is seen as weakness and vacilation by the forces of
Islam. Weakness only invites attack.
The next target for us is Iraq, then we will see where to go from there.
I hope our friends and allies pay attention to this.
England, a hot bed of Islamic radicals, cannot be far away from a massive attack.

Australia is my second favorite country, and the only place I would consider living if I left the USA.

I sorta figured that.

I've only been pals with a few Aussies over my life, but nothing I have heard or know about them makes me believe that they have any more confidence in government than Americans do.

I have by experience come to love the type of man who will hold a neutral expression while he completes a distastefull task.

I can only love a southern man.

That said, please know many of us in the USA know exactly how you feel.We will also stand beside you untill the job is done.Just as you have stood by us.We are in this together.

Prayers for your lost ones. Each of them matter to those of us who hold life above death. That is most of the civilised world. You are not alone.

I used to talk bout guns to other blokes. Just the news or the weather or the sport. But I wouldn't even mention a good hunting yarn in company I hadn't been hunting with. We're here, but we're 'underground'. Literally. Do we feel like criminals? I dunno.

But when I think about it, someone with a real grudge (like an ex-wife) used to dob you in to the Tax Department as payback. Now all they have to do is dob you in for a gun and you're away for years and your new family life is ruined. What a society. So don't talk guns at all, especially in new company.

Got an e-mail from my Uncle in Auz. This is what he wrote (in part)

now we REALY know how your countrymen & women must have felt on Sept. 11th... This bloody lot has shook us up down here I can tell you and has not done much to endear friendship thoughts with the Islamic/Muslim types.

Our news (and no doubt yours) as I look at CNN, FOX and others is certainly giving it coverage. We have (so far) about 14 confirmed dead but 210 Aussies missing and that does not look good at all, especially now so long after the event.

I just know that when our boys in the Gulf and those in Afganastan heard the news they would be in the "no prisoners" mood for sure...

Needless to say we are shocked, unsettled, in sad frame of mind, anxious, pissed off with the people responsible etc... To shed a quiet tear watching the horrible scenes and poor injured on telly plus the interviews of those both in Balanese hospital, those flown into Darwin, Perth hospitals ... not good ...
