Iraqi Operatives on mass media campaign to alter American Public Opinion.

The other day I had an "Ah Ha!" moment. I was listening to talk radio, and was surprised on the statements by the Radio Personality. He stated that most of his e-mail and his callers were overwhelmingly against attacking Iraq. This caused me to wonder. For I, living in Boston, a most liberal area, Have not met ANYONE with this kind of opinion. Most Americans that I talk to; and most are liberal, are terrified of war, but are more terrified of Iraq. In general, most seem to believe that Saddam is in the middle of a big Islamic movement that is anti-US. They fear that Boston would be a prime target of these nut cases.

So, being surprised at how out of touch I was with my co-residents, I shrugged my shoulders and did something else.

IT was a phone call to a vewry liberal friend of mine today that got me thinking. I don't know about the rest of the country, but Liberals are run by emotion. And when the emotion is FEAR - they don't hold back. My friend wanted nuclear weapons to be used... NOW!

OK. So what? Right?

I'm driving home, and 96.9 FM talk is on and Jay Severin is on. A caller has called in to the program and is arguing how the US has no business in attacking Iraq, and that the US should stay out of the affairs of other nations. The caller went on to mumble something about puppet of Israel... etc. OK. He had a thick accent.... So what?

Next caller... Normal US Joe. The caller after than... again a thickly accented anti-war caller. Hum...

Now, you must understand that I listen to talk radio regularily. So hearing so many foeign accents on talk radio, even for Boston, is highly unusual. Yes, and suspect.

The same thing later on. This time on the Laura Ingraham show. This time, a heavily acciented immigrant (who stated that he lived in the US for 40 years!) again bantered the do-nothing stance. What's up with that?

So, curious - as I tend to be, I did some research on the Net. Checked Google, and other engines. Yep... All around the country a phone in campain is flooding talk radio with a no-war stance.

What does this mean...nothing, - if you understand that the Iraqi's will use what ever techniques possible to leverage their position. But for most US citizens who are easily swayed this could have a negative effect on the political ramifications of the next few weeks.

The vast majority of people I talk to either don't give a hoot or don't think Iraq amounts to squat. I myself am not falling for all this bomb Iraq hype atm.

It is entirely possible that your circle of "those I talk too", is not representative of the majority of citizens of the USA.

President Bush has asked for our individual patience.Tick...tick...tick...

Either enlarge your circle of discourse, or be shocked by emergent reality.Choose....

If the Iraqi operatives are in fact trying to sway public opinion with a flimsy phone-in campagne then they desperate and stupid.

If they are doing a phone in to radio shows...
Then, you can be assured that they are conducting aletter writing campaign to our representatives. I, for one, don't appreciate enemies of the nation, and non-citizens to boot, pretending to live in my voting district and trying to tell my representative how I feel.
