Restore the 2nd Amendment & Take back the California Assembly Today!
Guns & Ammo Magazine ^ | June 9, 2002 | Ms.Constitution

Posted on 06/09/2002 2:59:27 PM PDT by GunsAreBest

I just received this letter from David Codrea, the Guns and Ammo magazine columnist who has done so much to protect and restore the Second Amendment.

Everybody should read this and help out TODAY!

Important Memo

From: David Codrea
Date: Sunday, June 9, 2002
Re: Take back the California Assembly by electing Constitutionalist John Brantuk

To all who know me-- either personally or through my writings: I make no pretenses of who I am-- I'm just a guy who tries. That said, I'm honored and more than a bit flattered that California Assembly candidate John Brantuk chose to include one of my messages in his weekly update.

I can't stress this strongly enough-- John is that rarest of creatures in politics-- one of us-- one of We the People-- a citizen who has shown the courage to stand up and be counted in a bold attempt to make a difference-- in spite of odds that would make a lesser man not even try. But I'm convinced that John Brantuk has the ability to pull off a major upset in a traditionally Democrat-dominated district-- provided we make a commitment to give him our support.

I swear to you that I believe the following-- and this belief is founded on personal knowledge of the man based on years of friendship: I respect John Brantuk. He is a man of integrity and a patriot of the first order. He will not gain office and then turn his back on us. He will be a leader-- and actively work to reverse the decline of liberty in California. He will identify with us, not with the Sacramento power structure. He will break his back for us, give us his all, and then give us more. And he will do this with undivided loyalty to the Constitution. I KNOW this to be true and I freely stake my reputation on the belief that this man will do his utmost to champion our rights

For all who complain that we are victims of politics, powerless to do anything to change things for the better-- here is your chance to help reclaim individual freedom. It's time to elect a true citizen statesman-- the kind we have heard about but all too rarely seen. But ONLY YOU can make this happen.

YOU-- please pass this message on to all of your liberty-minded friends--both in California and wherever you think John's campaign could generate support-- plus, your out-of-state friends will certainly know Californians they can pass this on to. Do it TODAY.

YOU-- contact the Brantuk for Assembly campaign and pledge your support. I don't care if you don't live in his district-- electing John Brantuk to the Assembly will benefit all of us. Donate to the campaign. If you live close enough to help out, give the campaign your time as well by becoming an Impact Team member. Do it TODAY.

Don't expect someone else to pick up the slack. We do our share of griping-- how can we not be willing to put our shoulder to the wheel when we stand a fighting chance to elect one of our own-- how can we remain detached and then look our children in the eye knowing that we were given a chance to make a difference and didn't even try?

I'm proud to know this guy, and my praise is not just campaign rhetoric-- it's heartfelt because it has been earned through years of honorable and intelligent grassroots leadership. Please send in your support TODAY before we lose this opportunity to make a difference.

David Codrea

In my dreams. As a California native, I have no idea how so many of my fellow citizens have been led by their noses like sheep to the slaughter.

If it helps, most Californians aren't from here. They are from places like Ohio, Texas, Georgia, New York, Tennessee, Colorado etc, etc etc. There are actually very few of us native Californians. I know, it don't help much.

Rosecoe,

I know you MUST mean well, but you don't help our cause by calling this a suicide district.

We cannot win if we don't try, and we cannot win if we don't all pull together!

So if you can't say anything good, then please be kind (and wise) enough to not say anything.

There is much more to this district than the raw registration numbers:
we are seeing a HUGE number of dems switching to republican registration - this doesn't yet show up in the registration percentages
this is an OPEN SEAT - meaning there is NO INCUMBENT and people are looking for a change from the same old ways of doing things
We have the numbers necessary to win the election IF most of them show up at the poll - and we have put into place a sophisticated GET OUT THE VOTE plan
And there are SEVERAL OTHER SURPRISES which I dare not disclose for fear of our opposition finding out too soon . . .

Which, by the way begs the question . . . are YOU part of our opposition? Why else would you do something so foolish as to suppress any help we might get by calling this a "suicide district?"

Once again, I echo Mr.B's earlier comment . . .

Lead, follow, or get the Hell out of our way! We will succeed in November, in spite of naysayers like Rosecoe, because WE WILL FIGHT TOGETHER FOR THAT WHICH WE BELIEVE IN!

COME ON, EVERYBODY, LET'S PITCH IN AND MAKE ROSCOE AND THE REST OF OUR ENEMIES EAT CROW WHEN WE PREVAIL AT THE VOTING BOOTH IN NOVEMBER!!!

The district is 52% Democrat and 30% Republican. If you're going to solicit people for donations, you should be up front.

As you should be up front, roscoe, -- on your opposition to 2nd amendment rights:

"The Second Amendment declares that it shall not be infringed, but this, as has been seen, means no more than that it shall not be infringed by Congress." -- US Supreme Court, U.S. v. Cruikshank, 92 U.S. 542 (1875), Presser v. State of Illinois, 116 U.S. 252 (1886)

Thanks, Tpaine . . .

I was a little reluctant to accuse Roscoe, but his actions seemed inconsistant with someone who loves Liberty and all the Rights of the people recognized by the Constitution.

I think he proved himself to be what he is, a PURPOSEFUL SPOILER who just wants to DESTROY ANY CHANCE of us electing a TRUE PATRIOT in the 56th District!

Please, EVERYONE, if you are as angry as I am about people like this trying to cheat us out of doing what is right - GO HELP ELECT JOHN BRANTUK BY GIVING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!!! CHIP IN HERE

We CAN WIN!!! WE JUST HAVE TO ALL WORK TOGETHER!!!

IF YOU SIT ON THE SIDELINES, THEY WILL TAKE AWAY YOUR GUNS!!!!!

Amazingly, there is a whole group of socalled 'conservatives', just like roscoe, -- here at FR.

They claim that our constitution does not apply to a states ability to 'regulate' away your RKBA, ---- or any other right, for that matter.

Of course they deny that they are statists, - and scream even louder when called socialists, -- but that indeed is their political stance.
-- They believe in a tyranny of the majority. - Not a free republic.

Thanks for the info. I am always amazed (actually it drives me crazy) when people seemingly are so STUPID as to try to make themselves look smart by HURTING good causes.

If these people (like Roscoe) really thought they had important information to add to these good causes, and if they had an ounce of intelligence, they would make their "suggestions" PRIVATELY rather than posting for all to see. Often, while they may think they know it all, there are factors and facts which they aren't aware of - I guess bottom line they just prove the old adage about assuming things!

I already gave (probably a LOT more than you) and have pledged to monthly match my first gift to FR.

Having an actual Freeper in the State Assembly, however, will do a LOT MORE for the cause of freedom since (as much as I appreciate Jim Robinson and FreeRepublic) there are other avenues for us to use to get out the word.

So the question is, Roscoe, are YOU willing to help out in BOTH causes (FreeRepublic AND Brantuk For Assembly) too,
or are you only a loudmouth with nothing better to do than try to destroy a very good man's chance to TRULY HELP US ALL in Sacramento>

Will YOU CHIP IN HERE?

Lots of good solid Americans of Hispanic descent in the district, who believe in the 2A, Family values and ProLife. His opponent is a gun banning liberal idiot. If he plays his cards right, he has a good chance may even be able to talk my ex and her husband into voting for him. Bwahahahahahaha!!!
