Restore the 2nd Amendment & Take back the California Assembly Today!
Guns & Ammo Magazine ^ | June 9, 2002 | Ms.Constitution

Posted on 06/09/2002 2:59:27 PM PDT by GunsAreBest

I just received this letter from David Codrea, the Guns and Ammo magazine columnist who has done so much to protect and restore the Second Amendment.

Everybody should read this and help out TODAY!

Important Memo

From: David Codrea
Date: Sunday, June 9, 2002
Re: Take back the California Assembly by electing Constitutionalist John Brantuk

To all who know me-- either personally or through my writings: I make no pretenses of who I am-- I'm just a guy who tries. That said, I'm honored and more than a bit flattered that California Assembly candidate John Brantuk chose to include one of my messages in his weekly update.

I can't stress this strongly enough-- John is that rarest of creatures in politics-- one of us-- one of We the People-- a citizen who has shown the courage to stand up and be counted in a bold attempt to make a difference-- in spite of odds that would make a lesser man not even try. But I'm convinced that John Brantuk has the ability to pull off a major upset in a traditionally Democrat-dominated district-- provided we make a commitment to give him our support.

I swear to you that I believe the following-- and this belief is founded on personal knowledge of the man based on years of friendship: I respect John Brantuk. He is a man of integrity and a patriot of the first order. He will not gain office and then turn his back on us. He will be a leader-- and actively work to reverse the decline of liberty in California. He will identify with us, not with the Sacramento power structure. He will break his back for us, give us his all, and then give us more. And he will do this with undivided loyalty to the Constitution. I KNOW this to be true and I freely stake my reputation on the belief that this man will do his utmost to champion our rights

For all who complain that we are victims of politics, powerless to do anything to change things for the better-- here is your chance to help reclaim individual freedom. It's time to elect a true citizen statesman-- the kind we have heard about but all too rarely seen. But ONLY YOU can make this happen.

YOU-- please pass this message on to all of your liberty-minded friends--both in California and wherever you think John's campaign could generate support-- plus, your out-of-state friends will certainly know Californians they can pass this on to. Do it TODAY.

YOU-- contact the Brantuk for Assembly campaign and pledge your support. I don't care if you don't live in his district-- electing John Brantuk to the Assembly will benefit all of us. Donate to the campaign. If you live close enough to help out, give the campaign your time as well by becoming an Impact Team member. Do it TODAY.

Don't expect someone else to pick up the slack. We do our share of griping-- how can we not be willing to put our shoulder to the wheel when we stand a fighting chance to elect one of our own-- how can we remain detached and then look our children in the eye knowing that we were given a chance to make a difference and didn't even try?

I'm proud to know this guy, and my praise is not just campaign rhetoric-- it's heartfelt because it has been earned through years of honorable and intelligent grassroots leadership. Please send in your support TODAY before we lose this opportunity to make a difference.

David Codrea

Here's something WE CAN DO TO HELP RIGHT NOW!!!

I just received this in Saturday's mail - looks like we can make an impact TODAY!

From: John W. Brantuk for Assembly:

NOTE: Please give this your most serious consideration, take action, and then forward it on to all others whom you know truly value the Second Amendment. Time is short to make a difference!
******************************************************************************************************************

Impending Danger

The onslaught to completely strip us of our Right to Keep and Bear Arms has only just begun. Unless we elect more pro-gun voices to our State House this November, we will surely see our most precious of all rights continue to be eroded, if not eliminated completely.

In fact, my opponent in the race for the State Assembly has stated that he would like to see (and if elected will work to implement) a Washington, D.C. style total GUN BAN implemented state-wide.

WE MUST NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!

****************************************************

A Viable Solution

YOU can make a difference TODAY . . .

The opportunity has arisen for our campaign to get out ahead of this gun-banner, and tie up several advertising and informational venues with our own pro-gun, pro-Constitution message. This will accomplish two very important things:

1. WE GAIN tremendously increased public exposure of our message;
2. Our gun-grabber opponent LOSES opportunities to get out his message.

Bottom line: We gain greater control of the voters' attention and the message the voters hear.

******************************************

Why YOUR Help is Needed TODAY

In order to take advantage of this great opportunity to practically "silence" my gun-grabbing opponent and AMPLIFY MY Conservative, Constitutional message to the voters, we must act quickly!

In fact, if we don't tie up this opportunity with contracts and deposits BEFORE our opponent finds out about this opportunity, HE will likely turn the tables on us and use it against us!

This opportunity is not without cost: I must raise an additional $18,600 of campaign contributions within the next few days if I am to take advantage of this opportunity and insure that my opponent does not.

How in the world am I going to raise $18,600 in just a few days?

The answer: Only with your help. One contributor at a time.

******************************************
Please send your largest possible contribution TODAY.
Let's not lose this golden opportunity.

If you've already contributed in the past, thank you. Now please dig down and contribute again;
If you haven't already contributed, please do so now . . .

If you can afford to send the maximum contribution of $3000/person please do so.
If you can afford to send $500, or $250, or $100 it will be most welcome.
If you can afford to send $56 to take control of the 56th District, it's very appropriate.
If you can afford to send just $25, or $15, or $10 it will be most sincerely appreciated.

Please make your contribution NOW, by check or credit card by visiting the following website - it's Fast, Free, and Secure:

Contribute Here

or

Make your check or money order payable to "Brantuk For Assembly" and mail it to
Brantuk For Assembly
P.O. Box 171
Whittier, CA 90608

Thank you for your contribution, and for forwarding this message on to other like-minded Patriots.

Let me close with one last thing: In the military I learned a lot of important lessons. One lesson is that you shouldn't fight unless you really intend to win.

And I do intend to win. My family and I are willing to make huge sacrifices to win. I'll campaign 16 to 18 hours a day if I have to. I'm 100% committed to victory.

The second lesson is that when the bullets start coming, it's important who's in the foxhole with you. That person can give you the support, encouragement and cover you need to survive and win.

The person I want in my foxhole this election is you.

Together we'll give the liberals the fight of their lives. And when it's over, we'll have the biggest celebration of all time.

Let's roll!

-- John

P.S. If you'd like further information regarding the campaign, my positions on any of the issues, or to find out how you can be involved in helping us take back control of our state government and return it to Constitutional Common Sense, email the campaign at Info@BrantukForAssembly.org

Thanks, GAB!

It's great to know that I have support out there from the "Freepers" - We're making progress, and we are cautiously optimistic.

When I was told that running for office would be 1/3 campaigning and 2/3 fundraising, I just didn't believe it - but now I am beginning to understand just how expensive it is to run a successful campaign.

Thanks again to you all! We are going to celbrate a HUGE VICTORY in November, and you're all invited to our VICTORY PARTY!!!

Best regards,
--- John Brantuk
CONSERVATIVE Republican Nominee for California Assembly - 56th District

As a Californian, I would like nothing more than to see the Leftward trend this state's been in for the last several election cycles start going back the other way. But I doubt that it will happen anytime soon. There is absolutely NO buzz about Simon, or about the election at all so far this year. As for state senate and assembly races, the Dems had total control over redistricting and made sure to strengthen their chance for a super majority. Without a strong candidate for governor at the top of the Republican ticket, look for an increase in Dem control of the state government plus a pickup or two in U.S. House seats.

If Davis is reelected and the Dems do get their super majority, California will become the most Leftist state in the nation, surpassing even Vermont and Hawaii. If that happens, we may as well turn out the lights on this state's future.

Wolfstar,

While I appreciate your opinion, I'd like to point out that this is exactly what was said about Simon's chance to beat Riordan at about this same time before the Primary Election.

Simon IS a strong candidate, stronger than I think you or the media realize. If he wasn't, why would Davis ALREADY be running TV ads?!

In addition, even though the Professional Politicans in Sacramento tried to strengthen their hold with the unconscionable (perhaps illegal) way they performed the redistricting this year, because of term limits there are certain "Open" seats (like the 56th District where I'm running) that are quite vulnerable to becoming Republican seats IF we ALL work together!

Let me tell you, trying to get media attention right now is just about impossible, whether one is running for Governor, or Assembly, or Dog-Catcher! The media just is not interested, and they won't be until September or even October. That really doesn't matter, however, because candidates like Simon and me (Brantuk) are out in the district EVERY day, meeting with and converting voters to our side. It's these "centers of influence" that we are working with on a one-to-one basis, who are tremendously helpful in getting out our message to the grassroots and word is spreading like wildfire!

Just because you didn't read anything about it in the newspapers or on TV "news" doesn't mean that great things aren't happening!

I sincerely hope that instead of giving in to the summer doldrums you'll get on board with us and be a part of a great (albeit unexpected by the "media") victory in November!

Remember, you haven't lost until you give up! So don't give up and become a loser! LOL!

Welcome to Free Republic... first let me add some boilerplate I keep handy:

Want to tell lots of people about this? Go here:

Ignorance Making You Ill? Cure It!

for links, tools, & instructions about how to contact a pile of different people, and how to send a link to this story right here ( or anywhere else ) to a "mass email" using Outlook Express.

Do be advised that since I increased my volume of mass emails to letters to editors I have gotten return volleys of virus attacks- my ISP filters them out before the get to my PC, but if yours does not, take appropriate precautions to guard your PC.

I take this as a positive- my emails are simply links with no editorial content; so the other side must fear & loath the information even reaching the public.

That said, a word on activism- as fast and far-reaching as the web is, never overlook the power of letters, telephone calls, and personal conversations to reach people. Every little bit helps.

Restore the 2nd Amendment & Take back the California Assembly Today!

In my dreams. As a California native, I have no idea how so many of my fellow citizens have been led by their noses like sheep to the slaughter.

So, let's do it! Let's take back the Assembly!

First, you have to dream;
Then you have to plan;
Next, spread the word about what we're going to do;
Finally, we work our tails off together and we just do it!!!

So, as the saying goes . . .

Either get on board with us and help, or get the hell out of our way or you'll get run over!

Don't waste your money on this.

Kalifornia is ethnically unwinnable. You can't "take back" the state legislature in a state that is mainly groups that reflexively vote left-liberal: non-Cuban Hispanics, blacks, gays, Hollyweird.

The best thing you can do strategically is do everything possible to speed up Kalifornia's secession as "Aztlan" as Chicano militants have long demanded. That "reconquista" will end the Democrats' hopes of ever again controlling Congress or winning the WhoreHouse.

Scandals of antigun politicians - from Kalifornia to Manhattan!
