Could it be the same "Khalid" mention in this Yossef Bodansky article: PAKISTAN'S KASHMIR STRATEGY
"...In early 1995, the Harakat ul-Ansar was maintaining offices in most Pakistani cities, as well as training facilities in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It expanded its global reach in support for Islamist causes. "Ours is a truly international network of genuine Muslim holly warriors," explained Khalid Awan, a Pakistani member. "We believe frontiers could never divide Muslims. They are one nation and they will remain a single entity." Harakat ul-Ansar are known to be fighting in Kashmir, the Philippines, Bosnia, Tajikistan, and the Middle East...."
The press doesn't want people to be reminded that there's a war on, either. The dems are ready to start whining about that darn lock box again, so we don't want anything to distract.
This is actually a big deal, when you read the charges. I suppose we will get another wave of whining from the left over this arrest, but I say GOOD!
Here's a CBC article about "Suhail Sarwer"
Sept. 11 investigators arrest Ontario resident (3/20)
TORONTO - A man from Sarnia, Ont., is custody in the United States, as authorities try to determine if he has any connection to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. Suhail Sarwer, who also goes by the name of Abdul Hameed, appeared in court in Detroit Wednesday.
Believed to be of Pakistani origin, he has been in Canada for more than a year.
Shortly after Sept. 11, U.S. authorities issued a warrant for his arrest as a "material witness," someone who may have important information.
According to a U.S. warrant, there is a possibility he could face charges that include destruction of aircraft, conspiracy to destroy aircraft, bombing and conspiracy to levy war on the U.S.
He could also be charged with more than $1 million worth of credit card fraud.
Last Saturday, U.S. immigration officials lured Sarwer across the border to Port Huron, Michigan and promptly arrested him.
CBC News has learned that officials suspect he may have had contact with one of the hijackers on Sept. 11.
When he was arrested, American authorities notified the RCMP, but the Mounties won't comment, saying the case is before the U.S. courts.
At Wednesday's court appearance, a judge ordered Sarwer removed to New York where the warrants were originally issued.
