Churchgoers thwarted a teenager armed with a rifle from entering a Louisiana church full of children Saturday in a service that was being livestreamed, authorities said.

Police were called to St. Mary Magdalen Church in Abbeville, 20 miles south of Lafayette, at 10:35 a.m. when the 16-year-old suspect tried to get in via the back door.

We have become a nation of known problems with what are actually simple solutions that go unaddressed and uncorrected. The people we elect to lead and address problems simply shrug their shoulders and say, "Too hard." Even well known problems with simple solutions go ignored. For example, Standard vs DST, pick one but stop the insanity of lurching back and forth twice a year. The issue is passed in the Senate but tabled in the house, "not enough time to deal with it", it could be fixed in one day and we could at least experience a satisfying small victory for most of us. We not only don't do anything right, we just don't do anything but make things worse. It is like hitting our fingers with a hammer and not having sense enough to even stop that.

In my past life of mending broken things I picked some low hanging fruit to get the demoralized organization some wins and start them doing something instead of walling in their own mess.
