Republican Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake in an interview with an Idaho media outlet expressed disappointment that her state’s 1864 law banning nearly all abortions is not being enforced, backtracking on comments she made earlier this month when she said the resurrected measure went too far.
“The Arizona Supreme Court said this is the law of Arizona. But unfortunately, the people running our state have said we’re not going to enforce it,” Lake said in a video interview with the Idaho Dispatch on Saturday.
“We don’t have that law, as much as many of us wish we did,” she added.
Lake’s campaign did not immediately respond to questions about her comments, which came in response to criticism from the anti-abortion group Idaho Chooses Life.

“I don’t view her as flipflopping, because I recognize that there is nothing she can do.”
First she said it was a great law then she disagreed with it saying we need a common sense law.
She realized her error and backtracked to something more neutral. If you want to call that flipflopping, *shrug.
“Typical sHill taking her statements out of context.”
Do you even know what she said? She disagreed with the SC decision and hoped the the legislature would now come up with a law that made sense.
I define flipflopping as taking a position and then voting against your public position, not adjusting words to minimize the damage your first may have made.
Political hit job distorting the facts.
She’s been all over the place on this.
She’s on her way to another loss. Republicans might salvage the seat with Mark Lamb.
It only to take 3 years for laws to become meaningless democrat party takes a bow.
Lack a coherent position, lose political support.
The position needed to be: Repeal the old law immediately. Restore the status quo ante—before the old law was resurrected out of the crypt by unelected judges.
Then, continue working within the elected legislature to impose further restrictions.
All female politicians are RINOS. Repeal the 19th.
