Ukraine army chief offers horrifying warning to West about Russia's threat to Europe

A top Ukrainian commander has warned Russia's forces are ready to “swallow” Europe whole, as he urged Western leaders to prepare their defences for Putin's army.

Deputy commander of Ukraine’s 3rd Assault Brigade, Maksym Zhorin, made the remarks during an interview he gave from an undisclosed location in the southern Donetsk region, and cautioned European allies not to be complacent about Russia's military ambitions.

“Create serious defence systems that could counteract Russia because it will undoubtedly open its mouth and try to swallow the rest of Europe,” he told The Independent.

His comments follow a slew of warnings from Ukrainian officials that Russia's warmongering won't end in Ukraine, as they continue to call on allies to release much-needed military aid (held up in the US and the EU by political wrangling.)

Less than two months ago Zhorin helped lead an evacuation from the Ukrainian city of Avdiivka partly because Ukrainian forces had been left with a considerable disadvantage by the lack of further aid packages from allies.

NATO is debating a plan to provide more predictable military support to Ukraine in coming years as better-armed Russian troops assert control on the battlefield, the organization’s top civilian official said Wednesday.

But Kyiv continues to beg allies for the equipment it needs to fend off Russia's forces after more than two years of war.

“Of course, the situation would be a lot more difficult if we didn’t receive the aid at all, but ultimately the cost of hesitation is Ukrainian territory and Ukrainian lives,” Zhorin told the outlet.

Pretty sure the Russians have no intention of invading Europe.

They have their hands full with their war in Ukraine.

If anything, Us and NATO supporting Ukraine drains the military reserves of the EU and the United States which weakens us, not makes us stronger. Being weaker makes us a more tempting target for Russia if they actually are considering attacking Europe.

So, if there is an actual Russian threat to Europe, we should immediately stop wasting hard to replace weaponry on the lost cause in Ukraine and focus on our own defense.

At any rate, getting even more embroiled in the losing fight in Ukraine gets us closer to war with Russia, not the other way around.

Sounds like the Zeepers who post here. At least we know who they’re getting their ideas from.

What a joke. From what we have seen in the last 2 years, the Russian Army couldn’t beat the Iranians with fighting without nukes or chemicals.

Name one war the USA has won since WWII.

“Putin has no interest in going beyond Ukraine...”

We all know that’s the case, but if the Zeepers want to claim it’s because Russia is unable because of their crappy military, that works fine too. Either way, no need to blow any more money on Ukraine...since Russia is ‘no threat’ to Europe.

Indeed. They don’t need to invade. Muslim immigrants are doing the job for them.

“Russia can’t even take Ukraine after 2+ years, but we are to believe that they can take all of Europe? Seriously? Complete fear-mongering nonsense to continue to bleed the US taxpayer.”

Zeepers are the best at that. They remind us that Ruzzia is losing in Zeeperland.
and can’t take more Ruzzian Speaking Ukie villages.
Then they say Ruzzia is a threat to the World.
They are a confused NeoCon Bunch for sure.

It's NATO that expanded to Russia's borders. We're the ones that fomented an illegal coup in Ukraine, installed a puppet government hostile to Russia and the ethnic Russian population in Ukraine and built ups a 600,000 man Ukrainian army.

NATO has been the aggressor all along. Pretending otherwise is beyond absurd.

Frau von der Leyen is now the head of the EU Commission, and so the Peter Principle of failing "up" is well demonstrated. Additionally, as she was Merkel's defense chief when the Germans had to train with broomsticks mimicking rifles, the "non-Peter" incompetency of these female and wholly political defense leaders spreads.

Here's some additional proof of German competency in this moment:

Bavarian police go pantless in uniform protest

Your observation about the "welfare" states of Western Europe having been subsidized for decades by US largesse is correct. And now, extending the "Peter" theme, it is time for Peter to pay Paul.

Our friends still in Germany and elswhere in northern Europe do NOT want their young adult children conscripted for the Ukraine "event."

Modern is NOT the old Soviet Union. You simply ignorant and refuse to educate yourself.

It's 2024, not 1984.

What goes on in Russia is available on social media for the world to see.

Same could be said of Ukraine, though. And Putin has actually made threats directed at Europe. I take him at his word.

But you are right. Russia has 20% of the worlds resources and 1.8% of the worlds people. They have no business invading their neighbors. The reason they do so, obviously, is that they want to deprive the west of access to resources.

Someone has to be brain dead not to see the propaganda in this. Also consider the source. For all this time Russia has been fighting Ukraine. And they are magically going to take over the world.

"they want to deprive the west of access to resources."
So that is why they blew up their pipeline instead of simply shutting the valve?

Russia will swallow Europe whole. What a joke. They can’t even conquer the Ukes. They have no air superiority. They are not longer the mighty USSR, instead they are now fighting with tired weapons inherited from the USSR.

But they do represent a significant nuke threat.

Russia barely has enough troops to maintain its front line in UKR - Sweeping over Europe - just a joke.

Most Europeans do not have a military. Right now, it may be the Poles and the Finns with biggest militaries. But most of Europe is now demilitarized.

The Russian military does not have enough troops to take Ukraine and you are thinking they could take twice (at least) territory? Are smoking, inhaling or injecting?

Cept most of Ukraine is the historical land and birthplace of the Rus
The Rus are taking back what is theirs
And, NATO is the entity inching eastwards. Putin uses clear language, back off. And Putin is serious about protecting his people, unlike 0’Biden

No. Russia had no right to invade Ukraine, regardless of what their history was. History does not justify war.
