WASHINGTON - On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot and seriously injured outside a Washington, D.C., hotel, along with three other people.
Jackson Bain was a news anchor for WTTG-TV, now FOX 5 DC, and quickly arrived on the scene after the shooting. He said it was one of the most confusing days in his lengthy journalism career.
"It was just amazingly confusing, because there was so much complete misinformation," he told LiveNOW & Then. "It was chaotic. And of course, there were limits to anything we could do."
As confusing as the day was, Bain said he did his best to gather information and inform the public while looking out for his own safety.

Well, if GH Bush knew where he was on Nov. 22nd, then why for years did he claim he had no idea of his whereabouts that day??
The night before Reagan was shot, Bush stayed at the Ft. Worth hotel where Jfk stayed before he was shot. Hmm.
I didn’t realize he was that tall either.
Sooo....I think there is documentation that shows that GHWB spoke at a Rotary Club lunch in Tyler that day....authentic? IDK.
With regards to the “George Bush” who called the FBI, they always say that it was “another George Bush” who was a CIA guy. Not the “George Bush” we know.
I don’t know.
Bush never struck me as a ops guy. That said, he did have legit and documented combat experience in WWII.
He was also chairman of the Harris County GOP in Nov 1963. So he wouldn’t have been exactly unknown in and around Dallas. He was already a public figure (and a son of a Senator). I’m not sure he was part of the ops in broad daylight in Dallas.....
That said, the official explanations are just as lame as everything else about that day.
What do we know with (I think) certainty about Bush? That he was in some respect a CIA lifer. Mesa Petroleum was pretty obviously a CIA front, and this is after all, what Skull and Bones guys did.
With that, we know then that he lied when he told Congress in his confirmation hearings for Director that he had not done any work for the CIA. So he lied about that, almost certainly.
Which suggest he would lie about anything if it were in the interest of the intel community....
I had just turned 3 years old a few weeks earlier and remember JFK’s assassination. I was at my mother’s friends house where I would go once a week for a few hours while my mom went grocery shopping. I no doubt remember it because of the emotional state of mom and her friend. Sitting in the enclosed porch with the sun coming in through the window shades, going home and the family crowded into Mom and Dad’s bedroom where they had a small TV set up.
I was in college when Reagan was shot. I recall watching some of it on the TV in the dorm lounge, but not much else. I was too busy with studying at that time in my life and not too interested in politics.
Let me see those quotes of him saying he didn’t know where he was when JFK was killed.
I was 42 & it was scary.
Really?
The ENTIRE event was on video and/or live TV.
The home audience was as well informed - or better informed - than most of the reporters on the ground.
I was shocked, but I didn’t really understand. I could grasp the severity.but it somehow... I don’t know. It took a few years I was a kid.
Somebody who has been around Haig corrected me and said he was under 6 ft. I was in my 20’s and he certainly looked like a big imposing man standing on the sidewalk. That was my memory of him. . . not always reliable. I stand corrected.
I can relate. The sledding hills of my youth in reality are much, much smaller in adult life.
He truly brought hope at a very bad time in our country. That gesture was just one example.
