If there is a magic way to stop climate change from wreaking havoc on Florida, reverse sea-level rise and lower the kind of scalding summer temperatures Miami saw last year, lawmakers may have figured it out.
It’s called denial.
It hasn’t worked in past decades. A 2023 report by scientists, published in the journal Bioscience, warned that inaction to reduce carbon emissions is driving the planet toward “dangerous instability.” (The highest Earth temperature ever recorded happened last July).
Apparently, the Republican-dominated Legislature’s plan on how to address climate change in Florida before it’s too late is to hit the “delete” button — literally.
House Bill 1645 is reminiscent of the days when then-Gov. Rick Scott’s administration stopped state workers from using “climate change” in their official communication. The new legislation, approved in the 2024 session, removes most mentions of the term from state law, among other things.
This legislation only steers Florida toward keeping its reliance on fossil fuels.
The bill also bans offshore windmills. Florida doesn’t attract that kind of renewable energy today because of its lower wind speeds, but that could change as technology evolves. Critics worry the ban could scare innovation away from the state in the future, the Times/Herald Tallahassee Bureau reported.
The climate is changing and negative consequences are already here. Last summer, Miami set 10 daily temperature records and 27 daily heat index records, the Herald reported.
Deleting the words “climate change” might make it easier for lawmakers to escape accountability. But it makes it no easier for South Florida to deal with its very real impacts.

We can do something about CO2- if all the climate change loons who are concerned about the earth took it upon themselves to jump off a bridge and become part of the solution rather than remain part of a problem they believe exists, the earth would be saved!!!

There’s no magic way to turn off eco-fanatics, but you could stop being their press agent who republishes their garbage on FR.
Ask the enviros how sure they are that the optimal temperature for the planet isn’t 2C higher than now. Tell them the. Planet is struggling to get to it’s natural state but all their efforts are slowing it down.
Once I realized that you can’t have a rational discussion with GW cultists, I find it more enjoyable for me to mess with their heads. The goal is not to win an argument. The goal is to talk them in circles until they leave you alone. It works with telescammers too.

It's no doubt the winter in South Florida has been different compared to previous years.
Since the start of the winter season, we've continuously seen bouts of chilly spells and stormy conditions as well as severe weather more often than usual.
January was a wetter than normal month for parts of South Florida and now February has been chillier with afternoon highs staying below seasonal averages.
To understand why its been chillier and wetter this winter season, we have to go beyond our local forecast and look at the big picture.

You can only have this climate change propaganda dominating a large number of people’s fears during a time when there is nothing else threatening them. That’s not to say that some people are not struggling to survive, they are. But those people are not remotely concerned with climate change. Climate change can only be entertained as important by people who are wealthy, well fed, safe and comfortable. For those people it’s like the enjoyment of a good horror movie. It’s essentially entertainment. They get to attend protests and get the feeling of social superiority. If there truly was a real disaster on the horizon, a meteor, global war, a real pandemic you wouldn’t find a single click going to an article like this one.
The problem with Democrats here in Florida is they have taken one beating after another, 4 straight, 2-term Republican Governors, super majorities in both houses of the state legislature, 2 Republican Senators, and 20 of 28 Republican Congressmen and no Democrat holds a statewide office for the first time since Reconstruction, their solution to all those loses is to get even more liberal and hysterical.
The people who have risen to be the voices of the Democrats in Florida are Berkeley Progressives who are getting more and more desperate.
The last Democrat who held a statewide was was Nikki Fried who was the agriculture commissioner, she recently ran against DeSantis and was defeated in the primary by Charlie Crist, she is now Florida DNC chairman and is the epitome of the raving lunatic liberal.
The climate alarmists should be going after the real polluters, like China and India.
There is in fact real and unabated change in Miami.
Miami is becoming and may actually already be a new financial capital formed by companies fleeing New York City.
The financial climate in New York is terrible and the Florida business climate is attracting serious corporate movement
What a load of rubbish. I was raised in Miami. Back in the 60s and 70s, when I was a boy/young man there, it was beastly hot. Boiling hot. It is no hotter now. We are being lied to by the purveyors of this global warming scam.
How would we ever know we have achieved PERFECT climate? It is ridiuclous.
