They say it’s especially common among Hispanics, who assume that the young women / girls in the family are built-in sex partners for the menfolk — it’s no big deal to them.

I have only been doing genealogy research for a couple of years now and have not gone back nearly as far as you have. I did find out, after telling people all of my life that I am not related to those other Kennedys, that my father and JFK were 11th cousins (they were descended from common grandparents in the 1500s). I guess I will need to change my Tagline. No intermarried relatives so far.
I did discover some slaveowners among both my father's and mother's ancestors. My daughter and her husband took DNA tests and according to my son-in-law's DNA test he has some African descendants. So, will my grandchildren have to pay reparations or receive them?

I found out doing genealogy research that my parents were 12th cousins. They had common ancestors in the 1400s in Sweden and Denmark. If you go back far enough, everyone is related.

Laws vary by state. Some make no differentiation between blood and step relatives in the definition of incest if there is a close legal relationship, including step-children and adoption.

Good grief. Is anything in the Bible true? I’m sick of hearing that the Bible is really fake. So now Adam and Eve story is a huge lie? Great. Just great! No wonder people are walking away. I was taught the Bible was true. I guess not.
600 years and a few family lines is a drop in the bucket, given that the number of ancestors we each have doubles every generation.
While it is good to know as much you can about your ancestry, if you had the power to go further back to see you ancestors 1,000, 2,000, or more years ago, I dare say we would find plenty of incest, rape, murder, kidnapping, slavery, etc, in the ancestors of every living human on Earth.

A British paper complaining about incest in the US might want to consider the topic in the context of its own land. But somehow I doubt I’ll see legacy propaganda media talking any time soon about, say, Charles Darwin and his “incestuous” marriage to his first cousin.
It’s from the CDC, not a reliable or scientific source.
It is unbelievable to me also that the numbers would be too high. Methinks someone is manipulating numbers to make us think incest is not such a big deal. There are those who would like to see all sorts of taboo behavior mainstreamed.
