Cemeteries, streetlights and bridges across Los Angeles have been targeted by copper thieves in recent weeks...We have about 3,700 lights that are completely out

Not just Los Angeles, but St. Paul, Minneapolis, EV chargers and solar panels are ripe targets as well.
“Green energy meets third-world reality.”
I bet there’s a lot of copper in those road-side EV charging stations the Dims want to force everyone to depend on.
It’s Mexicans, blacks fear electricity.
Got to my school one morning in Los Angeles - and all the copper wiring had been stolen out of the air conditioning units.
A few months later, the copper plumbing was stolen over night.
I’m not even sure why, but I really laughed at that comment. I guess you would have some knowledge on that.
They have stolen the copper out of the street lights here 5 or 6 times in the last couple years, they just replaced it all again yesterday, about a half mile. My guess is it will be stolen again within 3-4 months.
Turning? I think that’s already been done.
Just today my wife said sometime she’d like to go see the Statue of Liberty, but we both agreed it’s not worth risking going to NYC.
Beat me by 20 seconds on the EV charger remark. LOL
FWIW, my home solar panels are protected by the 2nd amendment.
Gads what an ignorant comment
Philly burbs area…yes.
As is so often the case nowadays, every time they open their mouths, aging Boomer "conservative" political commentators reveal that they've lost the plot. They are forever confusing cause and effect.
Boo hoo.
They are lopping the hook-up cables off of EV chargers. They tried to make it problematic for scrapyards to buy the stolen copper, but that seems to have been ineffective. Just start shooting them. After a few, the word will get out.
LOL, my panels are protected by a large, black retriever who doesn’t like trespassers and a rescued police-dog, pit bull mix that knows he was rescued and would protect his home - and ours - with his life.
There are some on this forum who are offended by generational generalizations.
That is most likely the reason my cousin told me he pulled into a charging station and all the EV chargers were “down” - he said they looked like they’d been damaged. Went to another one - same story.
Utility companies often have their copper coated with a specific type of plastic encasing.(only newer copper)
They tell scrappers they will sue if they purchase that copper.
Even if the utility can’t win the case, they can break scrappers.
You fears things you do not understand how they work.
Guarantee most women (possibly a growing number of loafer clad men)fear electricity...as in they have not...and would not work with electricity.
I’m OK with the thieves’s capitalistic nature.
