BREAKING: Trump will not seek to move Fulton case to federal court

Former President Donald Trump has decided not to seek to move his election interference trial from Fulton County to federal court, his lawyer said Thursday.

In a surprise, two-page notice filed in Fulton Superior Court, attorneys Steve Sadow and Jennifer Little said Trump based the decision “on his well-founded confidence that this Honorable Court intends to fully and completely protect his constitutional right to a fair trial.”

In order to move his case, Trump would have had to show he was operating as a federal official — rather than a political candidate — as he attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia and elsewhere.

A move to the Northern District of Georgia could have provided Trump with a more conservative jury pool than he’s expected to receive from heavily Democratic Fulton County.

The notice came three weeks after Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff, failed in his bid to move his case to federal court. In a 49-page ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Steve Jones said Meadows did not meet the legal burden to remove his case out of Fulton. Meadows is appealing to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The Fulton County prosecutor has far fewer resources than a federal prosecutor.

as he attempted to overturn the results...

The disingenuousness of these “journalists” is unbelievable. He never attempted any such thing.

The security is likely to bankrupt the county. Might be a good move for President Trump.

“The Fulton County prosecutor has far fewer resources than a federal prosecutor.”

Not for long.

Once that Jamaican TV “judge” ho gets his ass in front of her, he’s going to prison. He’s wasting his time playing the legal game with the friggin’ commies and Nazis.

He doesn’t have a choice. I think this is the one he was going to have a press conference to give the proof he has of his innocence until his lawyers told him to wait until trial. Clearly he must have proof he’s innocent.

“Clearly he must have proof he’s innocent.”

The burden is on the prosecution to show he is guilty, not the other way around.

I’m just saying trump bragged he had evidence of his innocence. Maybe he doesn’t know it’s up to the prosecutor to find guilt.

“She’ll get whatever resources she needs.”

Yep, the Deep State cannot afford to have him running for the presidency.

Found out it is hopeless and he is doomed to his fate most likely.

No less then AG Ed Meese wrote a concise, clear brief for the US District court showing that the entire Willis abomination is a prima facie violation of federal supremacy.

There is NO PRECEDENT in American history or Constitutional law of a minor county prosecutor being able to charge the President and his aides for conducting business while in office. Calling government officials in a state and asking them to investigate clear violations of the law is not a “conspiracy”.

Found out it is hopeless and he is doomed to his fate most likely.

Likely the most correct explanation. There would be many possible advantages for him in Federal Court, especially a guaranteed appeal to the US Supreme Court, and possibility for a Presidential Pardon. This reeks of capitulation, and a possible plea deal.

I could be mistaken on this but the Federal Court in Atlanta is in Fulton County as well, from a jury pool standpoint either court would have juries from the same county, does it make any difference then as far as the jury

The jury pool in the Northern District of Georgia consists of 46 counties. Many of those counties voted for Trump. In addition, most if not all he judges in the Northern District of Georgia are more conservative than the judge that Trump is currently facing.

The Northern District has from what I’ve read 3 courthouses, downtown Atlanta, Rome and Gainesville, Rome and Gainesville are obviously Trump territory but my guess would be downtown Atlanta would not be Trump territory

Given the size of the district usually jury pools are selected from la are around where the trial will be held

For the Middle District of Florida includes Jacksonville and Tampa, if a criminal trial is held in Jacksonville they are not going to select a jury with people that would have to commute 4 hours each way

Which is why is Trump we’re to tried in Federal Court in Atlanta the jury would come from the surrounding area and not from Gainesville or Rome, conversely if the trial was held in Gainesville the jury would come from that area and not Atlanta
