Not Over Yet: Late-Summer Covid Wave Brings Warning of More to Come

A late-summer wave of coronavirus infections has touched schools, workplaces and local government, as experts warn the public to brace for even more Covid-19 spread this fall and winter.

Hospitalizations have increased 24 percent in a two-week period ending Aug. 12, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Wastewater monitoring suggests a recent rise in Covid infections in the West and Northeast. In communities across the United States, outbreaks have occurred in recent weeks at preschools, summer camps and office buildings.

Public health officials said that the latest increase in Covid hospitalizations is still relatively small and that the vast majority of the sick are experiencing mild symptoms comparable to a cold or the flu. And most Americans, more than three months after the Biden administration allowed the 2020 declaration calling the coronavirus a public health emergency to expire, have shown little willingness to return to the days of frequent testing, mask wearing and isolation.

Monitoring wastewater viral count— yeah, now thaaaat’s real smart NOT! The confounding factors of a coronavirus with ANY type of S- Protein showing up in fecal matter (along with hundreds of varietals of fecal coliforms present all the time) make this database incredibly wrong and poorly statistically based to rule out error. Idiotic in fact.

Speaking of the death count...

The only thing I can compare my Winter illness to is one many years ago when my boss flew back from Cancun. He was very sick, but was the sort who never took a day off.

I had the worst ‘flu that Summer than I’ve ever had, laid out for two weeks.

Influenza just Is. It’s a very opportunistic critter, and will be with us forever.

I have never had a vaccine for anything, period. I’m not starting now. All of us should stock the right vitamins for the winter and eat properly, so if you catch the virus you will not have it bad. I think I had a 4 day of odd symptoms last winter, but didn’t feel sick at all.

“you anticipate the big event so long, prepare for it,”

As cooler weather begins, you begin extra vitamins, especially those recommended for covid. Extra Vitamin C w Rose hips. You can double or triple vit C.

D3. Most of us are deficient these days, and it plays a big part in immunity.

I had a scratchy throat for a few days and didn’t think anything about that. Then we spent a couple of days on boats touring and fishing getting wet and freezing and I think that stressed my immune system. It hit me pretty hard, but I packed antivirals and that helped. I was down for two days and diminished for a few after that. My husband didn’t get it as hard as I did. I’m glad it’s behind me.
